Richard Petty Nascar question

I must admit to knowing absolutely nothing about the Richard Petty Nascar driving experience. My question is if there is a tour to take of the area? Some friends are huge Nascar fans, but don't want to actually go for a ride. Is there a tour or much for them to see?

Update: Has anyone done the Nascar ride-along experience? Is it worth $99 per person? How far in advance can you book?

Never done the ride along, but we have been over to the track. They will let you look around to an extent. You can watch the cars going around the track and sometimes get up close to the cars. There's a tiny shop to look around. You can take a shuttle from the transportation/ticket center or just drive in if you have a car.

If they're real big Nascar fans, though, and you have the time and a rental car, I would definitely suggest driving to the Daytona Speedway. They do track tours there and it's a great experience. For that matter, a ride along at Daytona would be much more exciting.

My dad is a HUGE Nascar fan, Disney and rides? not so much - so yes, I booked him in the Ride-a-long experience... From reading these boards and doing google searches, I knew if there was a chance of rain, they'd have to shut the track down for safety reasons, so book early, because you can come back if they have to shut down!

Well, I can't remember if Dad found out and rebooked for the higher experience, but he did end up paying for the upgrade - and the first day he went through the class went around 1 or 2 times, and had to shut it down for rain - so he went back the next day.... and the same, then the next day!

It was his FAVORITE Disney trip EVER! He loved it so much that their last day Dad booked mom a ride-a-long trip so she could also experience how much fun he had!

I'm telling you it was a favorite memory of ours, Dad was like a kid, he got his picture and said he tried to figure out how to get a tire back home, and what to do with it if he could! (apparently those tires are sold as souvenirs when they are no longer good for tires!)

So I'm just saying, it was well worth the money for those memories!
