I need some advice...I just found out that I have some money that I hadn't counted on and I was thinking about getting dh a ride along for a Christmas gift. I'm wondering first of all if anyone knows if there are any discounts on this right now, a code or anything? Also, I'm not sure if we'll have time, about how long should I allot for this? We're going to be at WDW from Dec 23rd (will arrive in the evening) and we fly out Dec. 29th. We'll have 3 days for WDW, one for Universal and we want to go to Seaworld on Christmas. Do you think I would be able to work this in? I think he would really enjoy it. :scratchin

There is a discount for the ride along right now until the end of the year. It is $49. I would call and get a reservation. Just tell them you want the $49 special. My mother-in-law decided to do it last week and had a great time. She said it was well worth the money. My dh did the rookie and he was bored. They wouldn't let him drive fast enough.

Do you think it would be more fun as a ride-along? I was thinking they would go faster?

The ride along went 149 mph and my mother-in-law loved it. I think my dh went 112 mph and said he was really bored. With the rookie you have to stay behind the instructor and can only go as fast as he will let you. My dh said it was ok but he would never do it again.

My DH felt the same way! He was glad to do the Rookie, but was expecting something a little more "Nascar" and a little less "Drivers Ed". Get the Ride-Along and if your hubby enjoys it...he can choose another experience for a future visit.

Did the Rookie experience at Kansas Speedway and it was GREAT. It is a 1.5 mile track and my top estimated speed was 149. My average speed on my best lap was 129. The ride along experince would be ok if you are ok with riding; I prefer to drive. What I found was that if you are not getting at least 2 wave-off's per lap you are not close enough to the instructor and he/she will slow down so that you can keep up.

My DH did the rookie experience and LOVED IT! He went 122mph :moped: He said after the driving experience he would not want to JUST do the ride along.

Thanks for all of the great info. :D . I went ahead and ordered a ticket for the ride along and got the $49 deal :cheer2: , but I did have to pay $15 to have them shipped faster so they'd be here before we left. She didn't give me a confirmation number or approval number for my credit card or anything, I hope there aren't any problems, she said it'd be here Friday.

I did the ride-along and was glad that I did it just for the experience of getting in the car and feeling the track. But, it was not nearly as exciting as I thought it would be. I did it at Lowes Motorspeedway.

Now, it they would strap me to the hood of the car, THAT would have been exciting!
