Richard Petty Driving Experience

Has anyone done this experience I was thinking about booking it as a surprise for the dbf next year, and wanted to know a few things about it.

I bought this for my DH as a wedding gift and he absolutely loved it, I gave him a plastic car wrapped up the night before the wedding and he thought I was nuts!! LOL. I put a note in with it to explain what it was and he was totally shocked.

That's what I want it for! He was reading about it in a guidebook and said "that's one for the future" just days after I'd been wondering what to get him.

My DH had said many times when we'd been past it how much he'd love to do it one day so I knew he'd like it.
He was so nervous on the day bless him, but once he got going he loved it, it's pretty expensive but well worth the money, it's once in a life time chance to drive a race car and he still tells everyone about it now.

On the Richard petty web site the rookie experience (the one they let you drive by yourself) is $399. I think you can book via Disney too and maybe get it a little cheaper.
I just had a look and I think I booked with floridatix.co.uk on their web site they have it at £237, when I booked they were quite a bit cheaper than book via the Richard petty site or any other us based ticket agency. (the dollar was much better then and buying over here was still a better deal)

We did This for our DS in January for his birthday it was the drive along experience though was about $100 they picked us up from the pet centre over at the ticket & transportation centre, took us to our destination he got kitted out in all the safety gear 4 laps round the tracks from putting on suit to going round track took 15 mins tops but Ds said it was fab well worth as he was smiling all day !

lol I did the same thing for my husband too

My husband did it and loved it we went the day after our wedding about 15 members of my family came 6 being kids only my hubby did the driving but the took the kids around the track in a van they loved that we all had a great time watching everyone ...

I went along with DH too and I thought I'd be really board as we were there for a few hours, but it was quite interesting.

They took us around in the van too, that was scary enough without being in the racing car!! LOL
