Richard Petty Driving Experience

Has anyone done the Richard Petty Driving Experience and is the $403 8 lap package worth the cost. It's been my life long dream to drive a race car and this seems to be my only chance.

My husband did this a few years ago and LOVED it! He has always had the same dream and loves to watch nascar. We are going in July for a trip without the kids and I'm going to surprise him with this again. He did the Rookie Experience last time, and while I would love to be able to surprise him with the more expensive Experiences, it's just not in my budget. LOL He actually made the comment the other day," I would love to do that again".

Just so you know, there are lots of opportunities all over the country. Do a search on High Performance Driving Schools and you'll all kinds of activities at tracks everywhere. I would consider the RPE more of an "attraction"; it's a de-tuned tube-framed car resembling a NASCAR sanctioned stock car racer; you put your foot down and you turn left. At a real racing school you can drive a variety of fast, nimble cars on road courses and learn skills that will make you a better driver every day. In my humble opinion, that's more fun and a better investment.

I've done the rookie experience 4 times and everytime I get out of the car my DW tells me I look like a child on Xmas morning!!
Doing it again in July can't wait!!!

I did the Experience of a Lifetime last year and had a great time.

Whether it's worth the cost is a relative thing - but I would do it again.
