Someone had mentioned the Richard Petty driving experience, what exactly is this and how much. The same persone also said that she bought a gift certificate for this activity. We are going down in October with another couple and between the two families we will have 5 kids. Us wives thought it would be cool to do something special for the two dads since they will be watching the kids so that the moms can do a day at the GF spa. Any info would be great!!!!

My DW bought a 3 lap ride along and a 8 lap driving experience for me and I LOVED it, although it was a bit scary when filling out the paperwork. You have to sign all kinds of waivers and disclaimers. It was pretty safe though and I don't think they have had any major problems since it started. Just DO IT !!! I did the ride along first, just to get the feel of the whole thing. The Ride along is fast. We did 145 mph. It was great.

Last May I surprised my DH with a 3 lap experience (used my American Express points) and he said that he would do more next time! The drivers and personnel are great! Make sure of times and call that morning to find out what time their lunch is (we drove in just when the drivers took lunch early..11 am). We stuck around and looked at all the merchandise and pictures of drivers on the walls until they returned. Took still pix and also videotape. DH really enjoyed it!

I gave my DH the King Experience for a wedding gift last June. I had booked it seven months prior and it was KILLING me that he didn't know. We used our wedding limo to "take us for a ride around WDW", but I had secretly made arrangements to have the limo take us to the track. The limo driver was so great! She said "Oh, here's the Richard Petty track", like she didn't know. :lmao:

My DH had NO IDEA. We got out "just to look" and he was looking around the showroom and he stuck his head in the race car to look and when he came out I handed him the certificate. He was totally floored!

I have a picture of him after he was done and had just taken his helmet off. I have never seen such a HUGE smile in all my life. He positively LOVED it!

I am so glad I did it. He was thrilled. We went back to our room and he called every one of his friends. It was great! :thumbsup2

Do book the Experience if it's your think, you will love it.

Thanks for posting this question! I was planning to do the Ride-Along for my husband but didn't know where to get more detailed information. Now I know what I needed to know and I think he'll dig it!
