Hey Everyone - Just wanted to give you all a heads up that Race for the Taste is 50% Full and the Expedition Everest Challenge is 60% Full. The 3k during RFTT is also 50% Full.

Thanks Chris for the info. This seems fast for RftT, anyone know when it reached 50% last year? The girl I ran with last year signed up 2 days before at the expo! Guess everyone has heard the rumor that this is the last year and want to get the medal, good economic boost for Disney.

EEC filled at 60% 1 1/2 months earlier last year. It will be the next one to die with the slow filing!

RFTT won't fill until closing entry date. Unless everyone wants to do the final year(like Minnie)

I'm still holding off on registering for EEC... need to find a cheap DING fare on Southwest first.

So is it pretty much confirmed that this is the last year for RFTT? I've been following the other thread and was really hoping it was just a rumor.

This is year #11 for RFTT and it struggles to fill. Disney doesn't like that so I would say good bye to it!

This will be my second Disney race that has bitten the dust once I've signed up for it! (did the last Minnie) I wonder why they'd do a new medal for the race if they are going to eliminate it.

That's a good question really. Not to mention the special medal for doing either the EEC and RFTT or RFTT and TOT. I really think they were just trying to save some duying races.

I think if they end up doing the half Marathon (Rumored Pirate Marathon) they will get the 10-13k of runners they want down there in one race rather than the 2 or 3 races they have now. I really think you will get more people down there for a half than you do these smaller races and more people that are not local which helps their parks/hotels. Just my opinion.

Really, that's it? How lame. Although I do like the Mickey head shaped piece connecting the medallion to the lanyard. I haven't noticed that on my other Disney medals, but maybe I just haven't looked closely enough.

I was dissappointed that I would not be able to to TOT to get the extra medal as it clashes with MCM, but now I have seen the extra medal, i'm glad I got into MCM, eventhough its going to be a lot harder than TOT!!!!!

I'm in for Expeditin Everest, still trying to decide about RFTT. I've already done FRTT, but getting an additional metal for doing 2 fall events is calling me.
On the other hand, I'm doing a Party for the Senses the night before RFTT, so I'm not sure I want to get up before the crack of dawn just to get that second medal!
I'll have to make a decision soon, but I'm really having trouble deciding what I want to do.

Alright after giving this some thought I remember I didn't love the Coast to Coast medal when I first saw the drawing of it. That and a couple of things I've read makes me really be on the fence on doing the second race (TOT.) Decisions, Decisions.....

Chris, you're very right - the drawing of the c2c medal didn't come close to showing how absolutely awesome the medal is!! I've been trying to figure out a way to get to RftT since I don't have that medal, but things just aren't falling into place. Darn!!

Awww, Pat! Are there any decent airfares during that time? I think Steve and I will sign up for the RftT. By the way, did you ask the Disney lady at Chicago if the EEE is going away as well?

Susie, I didn't ask about EE. I can't find any decent airfare for RftT, at least not on SWA. Part of the problem is that I don't have a lot of PTO left (gee, I wonder how that happened). Oh well.....
