Revival of the angry thread!

She has a second degree burn on her hand from the chemicals in the air bag deployment system and some abrasions. Fortunately, she wasn't going very fast but she did rear end of all things a BMW and the police were having some issue with the driver and mentioned "illegal" a couple times in reference to him, but he threw them off by starting to complain about his neck and being removed in an ambulance. Looks like he had minor damage, but Chris has front end damage, every airbag in the car deployed and the air bag on the passenger side up front shattered the windshield. Her loser boyfriend kept whining about ringing in his ears at the emergency room - I told him when he gets his insurance card at home (why don't people carry these things with them?????) he can get his butt to the emergency room and have it checked out. He'll probably sue Chris. I'm sure the other driver will. Thank God she is not on our insurance. It was definitely her fault, and with 2 accidents in 7 months, I am sure the consequences with her insurance will be severe. I really think, for the safety of others, she falls into that category of people who should not drive. I am going to strongly suggest she take a driving class as a refresher before she gets behind the wheel again. Carol and I have about had it right now. I am going to front her the money to cover her deductible since, of course, she doesn't have enough money, but I am making her sign a promissory note and setting up a repayment schedule. I can't stand other people's mistakes costing me money.

Yeah..if she hit the other car in the rear..it will probably go down as being her fault.
You know..we've got five cars(and drivers) on our policy. We are all living at the same address. I had wanted to put the two younger kids on their own polcies..BUT....our insurance would require us to sign an affidavit stating that the kids never drove our vehicles. Which of course..would be a lie. Since we are always switching cars..for one reason or another. If only to move them out of the driveway to get to another. If for any reason they did get in an accident in our vehicles..they wouldn't be covered. So both the 18 year old and 22 year old are on our policy. We're lucky... my daughter has an excellent driving record...not so much as a parking ticket. The rates did drop when she hit 21..and then we had to add the then 17 year old.:headache: My husband says by the time we stop getting hit with sir charges for inexperienced operators..we'll be getting hit with surcharges for being senior drivers...:rolleyes1
I sympathize with you Jim. (oh and in regard to the boyfriend too..I hear ya there.)

Jim - she's is lucky to have come out of this basically unscathed. You are parents "above and beyond" the duty of baling her out on the deductible. You are also extemely wise to set up a payment plan to reimbuse the expense to you. Have a notary stick their seal on it is so it's nice and legal. Figure out a method of "punishment" should she neglect to make a payment. Added interest, late fee, whatever you feel is appropriate. Include that in the terms of the contract. It will definitely hurt her pocketbook & she will think twice about being inattentive when driving in traffic. If she screws up a 3rd time, oh well. That's why God gave us feet. Al's & my middle brother had to learn this the hard way & he lived to tell the tale (just barely after Dad got finished with him - YOWCH!)

So in a couple years if I am ready to head south, I can sell my place up in PA and still make out since I owe far less than it's worth, or will be worth in 2011, and I will be able to pick up a bargain in Central Florida. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Yeah, you're right Jim. It just shows, though what a mess the housing market is. Commercial Real Estate is really starting to tank right now, especially what's still in the construction phase. It's almost impossible to perm those things out.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. I think about her a lot and hope for the best. Sometimes these things happen for a reason. Maybe she shouldn't be driving. This may show her that the bus is not such a bad option. Anyhow, I pray for healing and the best for you and Carol....I can imagine how you must be feeling.

I have never posted on the angry thread, but darnit, I'm mad right now. DH is sooo laid back and he is like "whatever" about everything. My parents recently bought a camper for us to camp in, but they are 10 hours away so little weekend trips are out of the question. We have been looking to purchase our own camper with no luck yet. My parents are a little aggravated at our looking for own camper:confused3 so I can't discuss this with them. (I know that sounds insane, but they are afraid if we get our own camper we will never go campng in theirs with them again.)

So now the story. I spoke to a local man about coming to look at his hybrid earlier in the week, but it was at a relative's house about an hour from me. I was willing to look at it wherever it was, but he insisted on me waiting until this morning because he was bringing it to his house about 20 minutes away. I talked to him last night and he was suppose to call me this morning. Well at 10:00 I'm thinking okay we are approaching afternoon, so I call him. He tells me that someone showed up early this morning with a deposit and will pay the rest Wednesday. He saw no need in calling me since he had already sold the camper. I wanted to ask him if this person had been speaking to him all week like I had or did they literally just show up?

I know all things happen for a reason and this may be turn out to be a blessing, but I had my hopes up. I think I'll go bake me some chocolate chip cookies now.:rotfl:

Frank, it was just too hot to fish today. So, I went and shot 50 rounds with my .38 special, baked my cookies, and ate at least a half dozen. I am feeling pretty good about life now!:rotfl2:

im just in a you know what mood this morning and don't feel like doing a darn thing for anyone but myself!! So today im gonna be selfish!!!

My mom needs a hearing aide. Not covered by insurance. Nothing..zero...zip. Nothing from Medicare either. Man these things are expensive :headache:

Did you look into the disposable ones? They last for a certain period of time and then have to be replaced. It might be a cost option if needed.

Meet with the audiologist (sorry spelling?) again on Monday for prices..and options. I will ask about that. I hate that we spend all this money on insurance and there is nothing even given toward the hearing aide. Ridiculous. I guess people are just supposed to be deaf and have their tv's blast. It's to the point where I've noticed she is shutting down. She's not socializing even with family because she isn't hearing what people say. That sort of thing. It's not an option to do without. She's got it tough enough already..given the situation with my dad. I mean he can't speak..and she can't hear. Imagine what her days are like. She has issues with depression, and this hearing loss isn't helping matters. So..I've got to move on this hearing aide issue. Trying to get her healthy(ier). Got her into treatment for her rheumatoid arthritis. IV treatments once a month..and it actually seems to be working. :thumbsup2 She hasn't had any flair ups, and she's up and off the couch. I've got to keep her moving and caring about herself. She's kind of given up. She's only 68..but the last 12 years have been very tough on her.

Hopefully that guy wasn't the target :lmao: So sorry, that just plain sucks. Your camper is out there, though....oh and chocolate chip cookies always cure what ails you! :goodvibes

I can't imagine! How could that not be covered??????

Yep..nothing and we pay nearly a thousand dollars a month for their policy. Sad commentary on health care huh? Oh..and not to forget the $50.00 copay to the doctor.(specialist are more :headache:) Which.. of course she forgot to bring a check with her. They won't even see you without your referral and the copay up front. So..I paid that and took her to lunch afterward. I came home broke..and a little discouraged.
On the upside... it did get her out of the house. :thumbsup2 I even had my younger son come along. She gets a kick out of him. He's pretty good with her. For being 18... he's patient..and doesn't seem to mind repeating himself when she doesn't hear him. It was cute..she gave him her winning lottery scratch offs...for him to "put gas in your car". He's lookin' at me..like should I take this?:confused3
We went to lunch afterwards at IHOP. My sister and her kids met us there. Mom seemed to enjoy getting out and spending some time with the grandkids. We joked..that if any of us wins the Mega Millions lottery this week..we are getting a big van and rounding up all the family members and friends we know that need either hearing aides or eye glasses (another thing insurance doesn't pay for) and really going to town.
Imagine that... you think you're being extravagent by getting hearing aides and eyeglasses. I tell ya,..you don't know whether you should laugh or cry over that one. :rolleyes1
Is what it is I guess. Crazy. Healthcare these days. I don't know what to make of it any more. Oh..and Medicare which is her secondary..doesn't pay a dime toward the hearing aide either.
Oh well....better play the lotto again this week!
