For those of you that have experienced Narccoosee's at the Grand Floridian or Boma at AKL. Please give me your honest opinions...

I have them both booked for a September trip and not sure if I made the right decision. :confused3

Thanks!

I don't know much about Narcoossee's, but Boma is spectacular. It is my absolute favorite buffet in the world and ranks among my favorite restaurants on Disney property. It's worth eating there for the opportunity to tour the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is a stunningly beautiful resort. The wonderful food is an excellent bonus.

One of the more frequent questions on the boards is if the food at Boma is too exotic for a standard American palate. For the most part, I don't think so. There are plenty of basic options that should please even the choosiest eater. But those people likely will not enjoy Boma to the fullest. To my family, the restaurant's appeal are the creative and exotic offerings, especially the soups and salads. There is nothing too wild, but the food has a distinctive African flair. It's something different and delicious. I give it an enthusiastic recommendation.

Cant go wrong with Boma. I enjoyed it. We didnt stay at the lodge so it was great walking around the place and having a drink at the bar. From what i remember everyone in our party enjoyed it. Alot of food choices and good desserts.

Enjoy

We went to Narcoossee's on our "date night" back in June '08 (kids went to the Cubs Den). Loved it! Great food, great service, nice views of MK fireworks, upscale but not stuffy. I'd do it again this year, but thinking of trying Artist Point instead. Just an FYI - if you're on the dining plan, I believe it's 2 TS credits. Enjoy!

Kathy

PS - Tried Boma back in '05 and really enjoyed that one too, but others addressed that already!

We've been to both.

Contrary to many, we didn't much care for Boma. The food just wasn't our style, and the place is pretty big/noisy with long buffet lines.

Narcoose's - we liked. It's a little nicer/fancier environment for a sit down meal with a nautical themed dining room. Big focus on seafood at Narcoose's.

Narcoossee's is one of my favorite restaurants on property - i would say 2nd best seafood after bluezoo, and a much better option than Flying Fish. The location is great, get a 6pm or later ressie and you might see the water pageant, and the views are awesome. Love the calamari at Narcoossee's, and we have never had a bad meal.

Boma was great the last few times we went, but on our most recent time, it was way too noisy, incredibly packed, and just hard to manage around. Clearly the popularity is there, and i think the food is really good, but if it is going to be consistently that nuts, i will either schedule a really off time to go or maybe just start picking another restaurant.

DH and I went to Narcoosee's almost 2 years ago for our anniversary and we loved it! It was wonderful. The food was incredible and we had the nicest waitress. We'll definitely go there again!

Like BOTH very much, going to Narcosses again this year after Spectro, and planning to watch Wishes from the porch area. Did not choose Boma this year, probably nexttime.

Narcoosees was very good. We had a great, very attentive waitress but it can be hit or miss since our first visit there last year, we had a horrible waiter. The food is very good too. My DH had the whole lobster and it was great as was the side. I had a fish dish and it was very good. I had the mussels for an app and it wasn't as good as I remembered and I had much better during the week at other places (le cellier & jiko). They have a berry punch alcoholic drink that I thought was one of the best drinks I've had. I recommend.
can't comment on the other.

Thanks for the feedback guys! You are the best. :worship: Looks like I made a couple of good choices then.

Boma is my favorite meal on property (dinner, not breakfast) and many times is the only ADR I even make.

We went to Narcoosees for DH's 42nd birthday last year and he really enjoyed the Prince Edward Island Mussels appy.
He had the surf & turf and enjoyed it but many say the whole lobster is much better. I had the crab crusted halibut- it was good!

For dessert I had the valhrona chocolate cake with blood orange sauce- kinda dry and not so good. DH had the almond crusted cheesecake with cherries and I ended up really loving that- it was to die for.

Would I go again? def if I was on the DX dining plan, but not this next time on the basic DDP, though I would go back just for dessert OOP... and we may indeed do that! :goodvibes

Loved Boma and will be eating there each visit if at all possible :)

First I say they don't compare 2 different levels. Both r good but if I had to pick one no ? Narcoossee's :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Contrary to many, we didn't much care for Boma. The food just wasn't our style, and the place is pretty big/noisy with long buffet lines.

I couldn't agree more. It was not a unique buffet - it had a few unique items but not as many describe. We wouldn't go back as there are so many other places to try and probably wouldn't recommend it to friends.

We have also been to both. We really dislike Boma. All the food tastes the same. It all has the same, strange cinnamon-y flavor. ...and we are, generally, rather adventurous eaters.

Narcoosee's was okay. The food was good, not spectacular, I'm not sure if it's worthy of being called a "signature" dining experience.
