DBF and I will be going here for the first time in May. EARLY! What do you think? TIA! :teeth:

We did this last year. We enjoyed it a lot. I really liked the buffet, lots of selection from your typical eggs and bacon to fruit, bagels, breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, etc. Character interaction was good and the wait staff is pretty funny. Watch out for squirt guns!

My review is not a great one--When we went, the character interaction was rushed & limited, the CM's seemed bothered, the food was not good, & to top it all off, it was terribly noisy b/c of the metal chairs they have in them. We will not go back--There are too many really good character meals besides this one, IMHO. Hopefully, you will hear from some others that have had a better experience, but we don't care to chance it again.

Best wishes for a wonderful trip! :cheer2:

We went 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent- typical breakfast fare, including hot food(eggs, pancakes, bacon) and cold (fruit, cereal, pastries bagels). Not all the food was to my taste, but there was more than enough choices, so I had more than enough to eat.

I wish I was there now. MMMMmmmmmmmm

We were there a month ago (in our marathon character meal month), and enjoyed it. The food was good - breakfast pizza was my favorite, and the character interaction was good. We were at the end of a "circuit", so they seemed to hang out with us a bit. It's the only one were Donald appears. That said, I have done others that we have enjoyed more, but would not be against returning!

I have to add a caveat - that we are local, and it is just DD and I, with DDE, so doing these meals is not as much of an investment in vacation time nor $$$ as some folks on vacation!

So far our favorite has been 1900 Park Fare.

My DD and I went to Donald's and we loved it! We had the first ressie (7:00 or 7:15 a.m., I believe) and we loved it! We were there for her birthday, and we were treated to multiple visits by each character. Having the first ressie meant that the food was extremely fresh, hot, and delicious, and that there weren't that many other customers in the restaurant. We'd definitely go back!

We have been to this breakfast each year for the past four years, and love it. We have found the food to be very good, and the serving lines are well cleaned and maintained, which cannot be said of all the buffet options at Disney.

We find the character interaction there to be wonderful, and we also love the selection of characters--its one of the few places in all of WDW where you can meet Donald! Not to mention the fact that the buffet includes Crispy Cremes!

We usually go to the earliest available seating, and finish breakfast just around the time the park opens.

We have done ths meal twice and had a totally different experience each time. In 2003, this was the best character meal of the trip. Food was hot, fresh, and a huge selection. Characters were tons of fun and spent plenty of time with each table. Waitstaff was very attentive. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

2004 - just the opposite! Food was mediocre at best, not hot, buffet looked messy and gross even though it was only 8:30 in the morning. Characters barely even stopped at our table. Waiter spent the whole time complaining to no one in particular about the turn his career had taken and it seemed he couldn't be bothered to refill our glasses. Very weird.

I guess its hit or miss. I'm glad we had the first experience, as it was a special part of our trip. We didn't let the second time ruin our day or anything but we won't be returning next trip.

We did Donald's in 2004 & 2005 and loved it both times. The character interaction was great and my daughter loved the time with them.

The food was good and there was a good variety of it. The first time we went it was 8:00 and second time it was 10:00 and the food was hot and plentiful both times.

We've done Donald's three times now...obviously we like it. But, it is the character meal that takes the most time to do. There is a lot of time spent just waiting for the characters to come to you. And because of the way the place is set up, it's hard (and in some cases impossible) for the kids to just watch the characters making their rounds. It is noisy, due to those metal chairs scrapping the floor. And the buffet line can get congested. But, we have always had terrific wait staff...always fun and added a lot to the experience.
The food is good and there is a lot of variety....something for everyone.

We had a very negative experience. The day before, we were thrilled with our breakfast at Crystal Palace. The difference was astounding.

Food at AK was lame (how many different kinds of potato do I need?), many of the tables poorly lit. Bread/pastry items typical of what you get with frozen grocery store products. The whole operation was overcrowded and late and a bit rude and rushed. Although we had earlier reservations and got their earlier than Crystal Palace, it all took longer and were late getting out.

The contrast with Crystal Palace was stark. The setting at CP is elegant, most of the food surprisingly good and over -the-top fancy (pastrami style smoked salmon, breakfast 'lasagna' - this was a trifle made with bananas and blueberries). Character greeting was relaxed and fun.

PS - When we got out of AK at park closing, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy were there to meet and greet. That would have been enough!

I don't care for it at all. Too disorganized, too rushed.

I prefer the beautiful and yummy Crystal Palace.

this is the only character meal we did when we went so nothing to compare it to but, we had a great time. enjoyed all the food they had to offer, nice and hot, very fresh. the time spent with the characters was awesome. they all spent time to sign autographs, have a pic taken, and joke around. didn't feel rushed at all. the service was outstanding as well.

I *think I read a review here, someone said the best part of this buffet is that she had ressies before park opening...and she really enjoyed being able to walk through the park to the resturaunt with zero crowds. How early would one have to get an ADR to get that experience? Sounds great!!

We had an 8:30 ADR, CM's only let you walk from the front gate to the restaurant. We loved the entire meal. Characters were great, stayed for as long as we took pictures. Food was very good, we love breakfast and they had a nice variety. I got my first picture taken with Mickey, picture is on my dresser now, smile from ear to ear every time I look at it. We will definitely do this again. :thumbsup2

We did this one in May of 04, and we won't be back. We didn't enjoy it at all. Service stunk (never received any refills on drinks), character interaction was brisk, and food was pretty bad. Many of the items were gone and never refilled, especially on the cold bar. The apple crisp thing was doughy and undercooked, and I found the selection boring.

We ate at the Trails End buffet that same trip, and although it's not a character meal, the food was MUCH MUCH better for about 1/2 the price!

Fear not! We have ADR's at the Crystal Palace for breakfast too! Thanks for all the reviews! I think there are a little more good reviews than bad ones so I think we'll stick with it and give it a whirl. Worst comes to worst, we don't go back. Thanks again! :)

We are going for the first time in May. Sounds like from the majority we will like it there.
