Reviews on Sci-Fi theater?

I made adr for Sci-fi, because my wife has been wanting to go for a while.
It's just the 2 of us. No kids.

After looking it up online, i get the impression that it's really more of a family place, as in with kids. Dont get me wrong, we're both a couple of big kids and love doing the kiddy stuff also, but this place hasn't convinced me.
Will we have a good time at this place?
Obviously I care about the food, but i would like your thoughts on the atmosphere at this place. I dont want to feel out of pace with some many other great places we could be eating at.

DH and I (both in our 50's) went in 2009 and loved it; it was the first time we had been back since our kids traveled with us. The food is not outstanding, but it is not bad either. My DH loves the Reuben sandwich and the onion rings are terrific!

I'd agree that its a family place but I wouldn't think that would mean that the two of you won't enjoy yourselves. My wife and I are "older" and enjoy eating there. Its kind of fun watching the Sci-Fi trailers from your car.

My husband and I both love the Sci Fi Diner, the cartoons are great to watch and our server was fab. I would definitely recommend it.

We were there in September and I didn't feel like it was for kids at all! We really enjoyed our meal. Have fun!

My DH and I first went to Sci-FI Dine-In with another couple we vacationed with. We all loved it so much that when my DH and I went back with our kids, it was a must-do. Even though our kids love it (and they still do even in their teens), we totally enjoy it every bit as much as the kids. The ambiance is great; the food is decent for a burger/sandwich/milkshake type of place.

I don't think it's kiddy. I don't think it's a must-do, but my husband does. It's neat on the inside and pretty safe (food-wise) considering the other options at DHS.

We are a couple in our late 20s and loved it. In fact, it was kind of relaxing with it being dark and not a lot of talking around. Also, adults can appreciate the cheesiness of the B movies moreso than kids. Kids don't get it. Adults can also appreciate the drive-in theme which kids probably can't. One of our favorite places!

As a kid I loved the place. I went back again last year and the ribs really sucked but I still loved the atmosphere. We're going back again now that the menu has changed.

The one down side of having two people is you can sometimes get stuck on the back end of a car that has 4 people in a party (they joke that you're hitch hikers or something like that).

DH and I have always been in the last row behind another family whenever we're there as a party of 2. I don't think they'd put a party of 2 in the front row and then a family of 4 in the two rows behind them. Kids would then likely be sitting behind adults in the front row, so that's my guess as to why they don't do that.

We're just used to mostly sucky table locations at Disney restaurants when we're a party of 2, and then we're pleasantly surprised when it occasionally isn't!

Good point -- I never thought about the terror that could ensue from being in the front seat with two crazy kids from some other group behind you!

I believe there is also some table seating with fake umbrellas behind the cars that you could probably request as well for a group of 2.

as far as a kid place, i think it would depend on the kid. they show scifi movie clips in there. My husband (37) and my mother (68) and daughter (12) love it. I'm ok with it and my son (8) only went for the ribs and milk shake..lol everyone in my family loves the ribs there except me, I just dont like ribs in general though!

It's hard to ask opinions, because you dont know if any of the people you are asking have your taste. I would at least try it and if you dont enjoy, dont go back.

I don't see it as a kids place. I've been there with kids and without. We usually just have burgers and shakes and enjoy the clips.

I think everyone should go to Sci Fi at least once. The atmosphere is really awesome, and it is a very cool experience, with or without kids. I definitely say go for it!

As adults we enjoy it for what it is. A bit of a throwback and some decent food. As others have mentioned, the onion rings are very good. We also like the burgers as we think it is one of the best on the property. Fresh beef, handmade burgers.... pretty good taste IMO.

Well, I take that back --- in September, our 32 yr old & his wife went with us. They were seated in the front seat with us in the back. We all had burgers or reubens and cherry cokes or milkshakes...ice cream sundaes or the choc. cake for dessert. We all enjoyed both the show & the food, although the service was a bit slow so we actually were there through more than one entire loop of the show.

Previously, it was just hubby &I (in our mid-50s!) and we had sandwiches then too...enjoyed it enough to take guests back. And we're doing it again in February...taking son #3 then. He's 28 yrs. old.

We go during "off season" when most kids are in school so we actually see restaurants with mostly adults quite often. Sure there's always kids, but not nearly as many as during the summer or holiday school breaks. We've gone to virtually all the Disney restaurants, including most of the character meals...with all-adult parties. Not a problem at Disney.

I ate there for the 1st time in October. We weren't planning on eating there it just kind of happened that way. But overall it was a really fun experience. The food was pretty good and the milkshakes are very yummy!! They do give you a lot of food though. My bf and I thought it was a little too much. haha we left and our bellies were hurting hahaha

DH and I have been there with and without the kids. We have enjoyed it either way. It's nice and dark which for us is a nice break out of the Florida sun.Burgers, o-rings and shake is the way to go here. Last time we had lunch they paired us with another couple without kids, It was nice, we took their pic' and they ours. Go and enjoy it.
