Wednesday, March 4th. Beach Club Marketplace --Arrived at Beach Club Villas starving around 9:30. DD and I shared clam chowder (just ok, but we’re from New England), the turkey sandwich with bacon, brie and cranberry spread. Once we removed the brie, it was tasty. DH has his own turkey sandwich and chowder. Very, very slow service.

Thursday, March 5 Lunch - 11:00 a.m. reservation for Be Our Guest. I got lucky and scored a reservation on the 25th prior to 6 a.m. Again, DD and I shared (we like to share so we have more room for snacks later on) the French onion soup, very good, lots of cheese and the carved turkey sandwich. I like the French fries here. The server was very nice and gave us an extra plate for DD. We also shared the strawberry cream cheese cupcake, DD love it, and I didn’t like the frosting, tasted artificial. DH also had the turkey sandwich, which he likes; the bread is tasty with garlic butter on it. He had the chocolate cream puff. Must have been good, it was gone.

Snack – Sleepy Hollow – DH had chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. First half very good, second half very messy.

Snack #2 – Mai Tai by the beach club pool. Best Mai Tai evah! Pretty sure it was the 86 degree temp and sitting by the pool. DD had a virgin strawberry Daiquiri.

Dinner – Raglan Road DTD. I was excited to try this as DD has taken tap for 14 years; she was looking forward to it. Not a great table, in a separate room off to the side. Had to stand up to see the stage. Waiter thought he was cool. Explained we had the table in wonderland card and he extolled on how excellent the program was. Ya , I bet he did. DH chose a Caesar salad and serious steak. It was Luke warm and a tough cut of meat. Once again, DD and I shared (we were saving ourselves for Ghirardelli sundaes later) the Appetizer D’Lirrah for two. Excellent. I loved everything but the sausages, she loved every but the wings (little spicy). I also tried their whiskey sour. It was ok. Here’s where the waiter became uncool. He comes by with the check and hands it to my DD saying something about practicing with settling a bill and points out and circles the tip. My husband thinks he’s a great guy and tells her to give him a good tip. We tip him a little above the 20% and on our merry way. About halfway to Ghirardelli my DH is thinking, boy was that expensive for what we had, and the lightbulb went off in my head, OMG an 18% tip is included in Tables in Wonderland. Now, admittedly, our bad, we should have paid more attention to the bill, but honestly, I’m totally ticked at the waiter. He cheated us. He praised the TIW program, then preceded to hand the bill to my DD and circles the 18 and 20% tips. So we tipped him twice. We probably should have gone back, but chalked it up to our stupidity. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

So what did we do? Drowned ourselves in ice cream at Ghirardelli. I had the Presidio Passion, chocolate and strawberry sundae, YUM. DD and DH shared the sea salt caramel shake and loved it.

Friday, March 6

Breakfast – Starring Rolls. While DD and DH rode TOT and RNR, I had the Butterfinger cupcake. I had been looking at pictures of this forever. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. It was freezing cold and I think the flavor suffered from it. Had I taken back to the room and thawed it out a little, it might have been better. I ate about half and chucked it.

Lunch – since this was such a quick trip, hopped over to EPCOT for the flower and garden booths. DD and I sample quite a few. Fleur de Lys booth we shared the Comfit de canard. This was her first taste of duck, she loved it. I like my duck with a sweeter sauce on it, but enjoyed it. I also sampled the Kir Imperial, it was ok, a little lacking in the Chambord. DH had a turkey BLT from Les Halles. He thought it was ok. Next was the Taste of Marrakesh where we shared the falafel pocket. DD loved this as did I. First time trying a falafel, won’t be the last. Next was the Smokehouse and the Beef brisket burnt end hash. This was ok. We moved onto the Florida Fresh booth and had the shrimp and grits. I’m not fond of cilantro, so moved that off. The shrimp were huge and delicious and the grits and corn added nicely to the dish. Our last booth was from Jardin de Fiesta were we sampled the taco al pastor. This had to be the tiniest taco ever. I think we took one bite each. I also sampled the blueberry/pomegranate margarita. This was ok, there wasn’t any ice in the cup and the mixture was very syrupy and very sweet.

Dinner: Cape May Café. I think I’m over this one. It was ok. Worked too hard on the tiny crab legs and gave up. Mussels were tiny. Carved meat was dry. DH loved the pasta dish and Caesar salad, DD loved the salad and corn bread. DD and I don’t get our monies worth out of this one. This one is off the list.

That’s all until October. Can’t wait. It’s been a tough winter here in Mass, nice to get away for a few days. We moved over to Universal for a couple of days. Had to see Diagon Alley. OMG. Ah-MAZING.

You're not going back to Raglan Road because you made a mistake? :( That's a shame.

Glad you enjoyed your Mai Tai, though!

I'm not going back to Raglan Road because my husband's steak was terrible and luke warm at best AND I believe the server purposely tried to dupe us on the tip (even though we should have double checked). Been there, done that, many more places that we love and many more places to try.

Agreed. He could have thought you were just being very generous. That is completely NOT his fault.

Agree about the ice cream cookie sandwiches .. those are the BEST!

Thanks for the report! Wish you had some pictures we could all drool over...

As far as the waiter, try to think of things in the best possible light. Perhaps he forgot about Tables In Wonderland, just like you did. I'm sure he didn't try to cheat you. 38% for a tip though, WOW! At least you'll have something to laugh about in the future.

thanks for your reviews....we too didnt care for the Cape May seafood...I think being from maine...we are slightly spoiled on our steamers and other seafood...We can get these now at the chinese buffet in our town..
I am ready for some of the ice cream at DTD too...we also got a reservation for lunch at BOG in may...I want to try the soup and some of hubbies favorite steak sandwich with fries...I am sooo ready...
thanks again

I'm with you on Cape May--if I go back I will skip the crab legs--it was a lot of work for the amount of crab I was able to get out of them!

Are there better places in Disney for crab legs? Found out I love them a couple of years ago.

Thanks,
Suzabelle

It looks like a fun place but to us the food menus did not look good to us..I hope the server forgot the tip was included but it was tacky from him to even say anything to your child about a tip..Tust me I know all about tipping I am a server myself, but please...

I wouldn't judge the waiter at Raglan Road too harshly. Most patrons have the dining plan and I'm sure most servers have a routine they do with the check. More than likely that server was just used to circling the tip to show it ISN'T included in the Dining Plan.

We absolutely love RR, it is our favorite restaurant anywhere.

I was a waitress for a long time as a young woman and I never once circled the tip. Are you kidding?
He knew exactly what he was doing. Servers have integrity too and he should have asked you if you intended to tip above the TIW charge. If you did-good man, if you didn't - good man.
You definitely should have sent the steak back, if it was prepared wrong. I think a lot of the poor food quality at Disney is because people accept poorly prepared and served food. I know, you now have one person waiting while everyone else's food gets cold! I have actually asked them to take everyone's food back and bring them together. I'm glad you didn't let it spoil your night.

You sound like a real Princess... You undoubtedly, and your party, got extra special treats added to the food that you were provided post returning those original dishes to the kitchen.. Yum, yum....

As a server I would never circle the tip - bad on his part. I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. That said, I do enjoy Raglan Road and think you should give it at least one more chance. The bad steak probably didn't help. Thanks for the reviews :)
