First, let me say that I had read so many things about these places that I wasn't sure just what to expect. Our family favorite was 50's Prime Time. Cousin Lydia was great! She knew just how far to carry the act with our 3 kids (9, 7 & 3). She made them set the table, but her wrath was saved for the table next to us. The kids really enjoyed seeing a grown up at this table sent to the corner for a time out (I think out 3 year old may have gotten upset if Lydia had put either my husband or I in a time out). The kids just grinned from ear to ear while we were here. I had the Chicken Ceasar salad (which was very good) and DH had the Chicken Pot Pie (and he cleaned his plate) and the kids liked the PB & J's & chips. OK, I got the Brownie A La Mode (I really hope no one is keeping track of how many of these I had on this trip...hummmm....I barely ate more than a few bites of each one..honest). It was very good (Beaches and Cream was a bit better, but this one takes a close second). Lydia put Cracker Jacks (that candied popcorn) on it (I think because I asked her to leave off the M & M's, hey I had to cut back somewhere) which was a bit unusual, but very yummy.
At Sci-Fi I also had the Ceasar Salad which was just the same as 50's Prime Time and was also very good. DH thinks he had the hamburger there (it's kind of a blurr) but he remembers that he liked what he had, and just more PB &J's for the kids. It was not crowed, and it just seemed to have a less festive atmosphere (as compared to the 50's Prime Time) although the kids got a real kick out of eating in cars and watching old movie clips.
More reviews to come: Chef Mickeys and Whispering Canyon Cafe
PS: Is there anywhere in WDW to get nachos (just the cheese and chips variety)? We looked everywhere (hey at Six Flags they have 'em at every stand) but never saw them at WDW.
