We had dinner at the Rose and Crown on Feb 12th and I was very disappointed!:( as it did not meet my expectation.
The Greeter Ross was great, from the UK and we chatted while we waited. Our PS was for 7:40 and we were seated on the Patio, with an Excellent view of the Lagoon and Illuminations (It was Cool - But we were dressed for being out). We had been in 1990 and I had the Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding then and I have dreamed about having it again for 3 years. It was not available, as the menu was very abbreviated. Our Server Erik was great. We were served our food on Plastic Plates, with plastic utensils wrapped in cellophane with a little napkin. I did not expect this level of "service" at a Full Service Epcot R4estuarant. Erik stated that the Prime Rib was no longer offered, as it was "Too Hot" for the plastic plates
We ordered a Fruit and Cheese Plate appetiser to share. Unfortunately, our dinners arrived within minutes of the appetiser, so we took most of it in s "doggy Baf" It was great and I enjoyed it over the next few days! My husband had the Fish and Chips and it was excellent - flaky white fish with a crispy fried crust - not at all greasy.
I had the Roasted Half Chicken. The Chicken was a bit dry, and the mashed potatoes were cold, but the Dressing and Green Beans were Delicious.
We were able to watch Illuminations as we finished our dineer and it was a wonderful experience.
So my main point - with the correct expectations of the experience, it is a nice place - just don't expect anything more than a brief menu and plastic plates and utensils.

Did waitstaff indicate whether some sort of refurbishment was underway.

That was the explanation (refursbishment or replacement of place settings and cutlery) given to my family during a visit about 1.5 years ago.

He led us to believe - I didn't ask specifically - that this is the way it is!

Wow! I'd be disappointed, too. We ate their twice in 2001 and definitely had real plates and real silverware and the prime rib was still on the menu.

Did they still have the meat pie sampler? We have a PS there for May and I was really looking forward to this. Thanks for the "heads up".

We had dinner there Christmas Eve after the Candlelight Processional andd they had silverware, plates and prime rib then. I remember the "kitchen renovation" a year or so ago too when prime rib was off the menu for a bit. Hope all of this is temporary!

There's a post today (3/9) by Alice28 with reviews of meals on her recent trip. Sounds like the prime rib was available at Rose & Crown and doesn't mention paper plates.
