With the rest or almost rest of 2004 opening up Monday (hopefully), would someone remind me of the perks of staying in a category 3. I'm trying to decide before the opening of dates on Monday. We stayed in a category 4 last cruise and am thinking of upgarding for something special.

Okay, here's the short version. :)

On embarkation day there is a concierge reception and there you can book Palo, spa treatments, any special activities such as the Palo wine tasting and Tea with Wendy, shore excursions and even sign the kids up for the children's programming.

During the cruise the concierge staff leaves little goodies for you, such as plates of cookies and fruit.

The concierge staff will check in with you throughout the cruise to see if there is anything they can do for you. Often they will give you game cards for the kids for the arcade, and they will also take care of getting tips charged to your stateroom account if you'd like them to do that for you.

You can check out CDs and videos from the concierge staff.

There is a special reception for concierge guests later in the week.

That's pretty much it. The biggest perk, of course, is the lovely stateroom and all the extra space. :)

also:

Full breakfast from room service,

menu's from all four restaurants available for room service.

special checkin line at the terminal

Doctorrick said "menu's from all four restaurants available for room service." Are you sure that all four are included? My wife and I will be sailing in Category 3 in three weeks and we have already received the letter from the concierge detailing the benefits. It said concierge guests "are entitled to enjoy world-class dinner cuisine of Triton's, Parrot Cay or Animator's Palate in the intimate setting of your own suite". There was no mention of Palo.

They don't have the Palo menu in the room but you actually can order from there. Also they tell you that you can order from the restaurants when they are serving those meals, meaning that if you wanted something off the dinner menu for one of the specialized meal nights and it was not being served at the time you ordered it you could not get it then.

To be honest, while in the suites twice we have never ordered room service except for snacks and breakfast. :)

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. :) Do you have copies of the menus in your suite or do you have to go to concierge room to view menus?

They have copies of all the menus in the suite, except for Palo. :)

There are copies of the menus in your room. We ordered room service dinner the first night and the only thing they did request was that we order from the dining room that was on our rotation (Parrot Cay in our case). The food arrived quickly and was as warm as if it we were actually in Parrot Cay.

With the way they are watching for guests who don't show up for dinner, I would tell your dining room server, in advance, if you plan on eating dinner in your suite.

The Cat 3 suites were very nice and the concierge staff helpful. Not sure we'd stay in a Cat 3 (or higher) again, but it was definitely a great one-time splurge.
