Hi all! Just got back from 7 nights at SSR. We stayed in the Grandstand room 9310 (2 bedroom). Loved the villa!!! It was nice and new and the beds were super comfy. Loved having the washer/dryer and kitchen. We had a view of the golf course. The Artist's Palette was totally inadequate for the size of the resort, although we loved the flatbread and breakfast. As for the bus transportation, i can't really say it was great. The main reason i requested the Grandstand was because it was the first bus stop. That being said, it seemed to take longer just to get out of the resort than it did to reach the parks. Man, SSR is just too big! One day it took us almost 90 minutes to get from SSR to Epcot. Overall, we had a great trip (using developer points), but i don't know if i would stay at SSR again. I am hoping the buses will be better when we stay at AKV next year! :)

While SSR is a large resort, when things run smoothly, it's really not that bad. I agree that AP is entirely too small to accomodate the number of guests, especially during peak meal times. Buses have been a huge problem at SSR with poor service and not enough buses running to handle the number of guests staying there. I hope that Disney is working on the bus system for SSR especially with THV getting ready to open later this year! SSR is our home and it does have many advantages! Glad to hear you had a great trip! The things you pointed out are usually the 2 biggest complaints everyone has with SSR!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We stayed in the Paddocks Dec. 17 - 28 and we had a great time. The buses were much better than we expected. We were actually quite impressed.

We just returned as well. This was our first time as DVC members. We were also in the Grandstand section in room 9212 a studio. The studio was perfect for our family of three. We had no problem with the busses, the bus service was fantastic. Our only complaint was Artist Palette is way to small, not a lot of choices, no sink to rinse your mugs in and opening at 7. Other than that our stay was pretty much perfect.

We did eat twice at The Turf Club and it was amazing. The service was great and the food was awesome. We enjoyed it so much the first time that we cancelled another reservation to eat here the second time!

We just got back from our annual Mardi Gras vacation, we stayed at SSR. We only ate at AP one time.. it was nice.. we were there really early so no issue with crowds. We love the ease of getting to Downtown Disney to eat.. we ate at Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck on the dining plan.. they were both FANTASTIC!!! The bus transportation was never an issue for us as we always left for rope drop (we stayed in springs). Overall the busses never took any longer than 15 mins. Really no complaints here.. we loved SSR.

We used our developer points for a stay there in January. My mom and her fiance used it as a base to play golf; DH, DS and I used it as a base for going to the parks. We stayed in the Grandstand area, which was certainly the right choice for us.

DM and her DF really loved the resort. They played golf almost every day, and they walked or took the boat to DTD every day. They loved the beauty and peacefulness of SSR, and the size never bothered them since they took their car everywhere that wasn't a quick walk. They would stay there again happily.

DH and I (at three, DS didn't really express an opinion) liked it pretty well, but we're very used to being convenient to at least one park. We liked that it was quiet and felt like a restful retreat, we didn't like waiting for the bus most mornings. Although it wasn't as bad as we'd feared it might be - longest wait we had was about 18 minutes. There was a castmember in the waiting area with us monitoring the situation every day we were there. We would have liked it much less if we'd waited longer, or had to stand for the drive.

We didn't try AP; we cooked our own breakfast every morning and we ate lunch in the parks. DM and her DF tried it once or twice and liked it well enough. We liked the Turf Club pretty well, but since almost all our other dinners were signature restaurants (or V & A), we weren't just overwhelmed with the wonderfulness of it. (Don't get me wrong, if was a perfectly good meal, but I have to say, Jiko, Cali Grill, Artist Point, and V & A were all better.)

We will probably be back to SSR... if DM and her DF vote loudly for it, or if we can't get in anywhere else. But it won't be our first choice...

We just got back as well this past Friday and had an amazing time at SSR............funny thing is we were in room 9327 (I believe)...........so we were right down the hall. Only took the bus once and it came right as we walked up (thankfully)..........but it was a little pain to wait for the other stops. We loved the proximity to downtown disney.

I loved how quiet the resort was also. I think part of our problem was trying to cram too many dinner ressies into our stay. Next trip, no matter where we end up staying, i want less park time and more down time. The pools looked great but we didn't make time for them. We ate at Wolfgang Puck Cafe at DTD and it was soo yummy! I would highly recommend it. LeCellier was also a favorite. :)

That is the best part for us about DVC is you can actually relax and go to Disney. The first trip with kids to Disney was comando and it was a blast, but I needed a vacation to recover. Since we own DVC we are totally relaxed.......love eating in instead of having to go out every meal, esepcially with the kids.

Thanks for the review.
Even with a few issues with transportation, I'm glad you had a nice visit.

It's great that there are multiple WDW Resorts to experience!
