Review of new Harry Potter Ride??

Ok, so what I really want to know is does it have any sudden drops or anything similar to a "Splash Mountain" type of drop? I have no problem with upside down or fast I just can't take the feeling of dropping. I Love The Hulk, Rocking Roller Coaster, Soarin' and Dinosaur. Those don't bother me...but would never be caught dead on Tower of Terror, Splash mountain, The Mummy or Space mountain! So, I'm trying to figure out if I can do this ride.

You sound the opposite of me so hopefully you will be fine. ;)There are only four rides at WDW/ US that I really can't handle: The Hulk, R'n'R, Dinosaur and Forbidden Journey. I LOVE Splash Mountain, Soarin, Space and Mummy and can handle Tower of Terror. I can't do The Hulk and R'n'R because of the launches (I'm fine on other coasters) and Dinosaur and FJ terrify me. I hate things jumping out at me and between the spiders, dragon and dementors, I was done in. I actually started sobbing when I got off the ride and was shaking quite badly. DD7 did not particularly care for the ride although she didn't get upset or anything - she did not choose to ride it again, however, On the other hand, DH, DS15 and DS11 LOVED FJ and rode it many times using the single rider line and said that each time they rode they were able to catch more and more of the great details. Based on the rides that you do like, it sounds like you should be OK. :)

It's always interesting to see what bothers different people. DD7 tried everything that she was tall enough for. While she didn't like FJ, the only ride that really scared her was Mummy. She said it was too loud and it's the only ride she has ever cried on. It really surprised me because she loves Space Mountain, Spiderman etc... and will ride them multiple times. I, on the other hand, thought Mummy was very mild but as mentioned freak out on other rides. I guess you just don't know until you try.

...I am glad I rode it just to say that I did, but I will never ride it again! I got very sick after I got off. Very rough ride.

I guess it's just in my head but I hate that feeling that I get in my stomach when dropping. I was really scared of the mummy but it also could have been because it was the fear of the unknown. The "drop" right after it looks like you are getting off the ride is the one that put me over the edge. LOL

I can't do coasters. FJ is nothing like a coaster. If you are ok with simulators you should ride it. :thumbsup2

We rode Forbidden Journey multiple times and Loved it.I thought the ride was really smooth. My entire family loved it and not one of us suffered from motion sickness. I also would describe it as a cross between Spiderman and Soarin but thought Spiderman was actually a bit rougher than FJ. I think this is one of those rides everyone needs to try at least once. because, like the rest of the movie rides at Universal it really gives you a sense of being a part of the movies and really adds to the wonder of the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

I can't say I will never ride it again, but I too was very ill and felt like I was beaten up. I know that are those who feel that it's smooth, and the first third or so was...but then it just got painful for me. Not as painful as WDW's Space Mountain (omg OUCH), but despite all efforts to keep my head back, it was moved around and bashed against the sides of the restraints. Since I wear glasses, and it was hitting the frames into my head, that was painful.

I was so ill by halfway through the ride. And then I was SO bummed because I couldn't go on Hippogriff with hubby and son (hubby could not, DS would not, go on FJ), and I love coasters like Hippogriff (DS and I rode 14 times in a row on our last morning there, to give you an idea of my enjoyment level of such coasters). I recovered a bit about 2 hours later and chose to go on Spiderman as my next ride....oh man, SUCH a mistake. Did not help a thing other than keeping me sick through the night and into our second day.

The feeling of flight is AMAZING. The spiders are huge and terrifying and my HP-freak-fan sister in law almost certainly will not be able to ride due to the spiders. The dragon is RIGHT in your face. And then there's a feeling of flight again, but by then it was ruined by how sick I felt. :(

I love Soarin', Star Tours, I rode Spiderman a second time on our 4th day there and liked it MUCH more when not "primed" for illness by FJ, I am madly in love with the Simpsons ride...I like that kind of ride...but FJ nearly did me in.:sad1:

If you close your eyes, does that help??

I don't think so.

My sister went on it via the single rider line with me the first time and closed her eyes, but was still queasy and it didn't go away quickly either.

She can ride ANY rollercoaster too:confused3

I heard a LOT of people, mostly adults, saying that they were queasy after the ride. WIMPS :rotfl2:

I went on the ride 5 times. 1 time on the single rider and right back in line so I could go through the whole queue, Herbology and the grounds.
Then back later for more single rider rides and a castle tour. :woohoo:

Nothing bothers me. Lucky for me!

Closing my eyes helps me with queasiness. I close my eyes during the quidditch scene. I am fine with the animatronic parts of the ride but the simulation scenes bother me.

I actually felt very queasy on FJ. First time I rode, I had to close my eyes 1/2 way through, which frustrated me. I went back the next day of our visit, at my daughter's urging. She told me to stay focused on Harry instead of closing my eyes and that helped, but only a bit. Lots of people here call the ride smooth, and I guess that's true in as much as the movements are quite smooth BUT you do get tossed around quite a bit to simulate flying fast and away from danger. I am of average height and weight, and was actually airborne more than once! What really would have helped me? Blasts of fresh air on my face throughout the ride.

That being said, I simply adored the WWoHP!

I agree about the cold air. During the dementors scene if the room was cold, it sure would help with the nausea.
