Review of Chef Mickey's...July 2011

Hi all,

Chef Mickey's has been a favorite of ours in the past. Unfortunately, no more! The restaurant was dirty and not well kept....tables weren't promptly turned over, instead dishes from one table were stacked on another "dirty" table and it took a while for the busers to clean them off.

We all know that kids (and some adults) aren't as careful about dropping things on the floor...but the floor was just awful!

The photos...really.....??? Way to expensive! Why do we have to do this before we go and sit down? Oh yes, to get even more money out of us. Talk about wasteful....how many people really buy the packages?

Now, on to the food. Yes, it is a buffet and I understand that food quality can be hard to maintain. But they should have someone who is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the cleanliness of the buffet itself to clean up the dropped items and wipe off the area. Also, the food variety's were not as good as in the past. There were only 5 hot dishes and even the hot dishes weren't so hot....my mashed potatoes were cold! Yuck!

Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. We dined at 6:20 on a Saturday evening so it was pretty much "prime time."

Sorry, but we won't be back. It was just plain gross this time!

That wasnt my experience at all! My DH and I ate there last Feb. and it was awesome. We only waited 15 minutes to be seated and the staff was amazing. Our waiter was great, taking our picture and always keeping our glasses refilled. The food was fresh and hot and the buffet area as well as the dining and bathroom areas were clean. As far as the photo:thumbsup2 they take, I could have lived without it, but DH wanted it and now we love looking at it. We are going back in Oct. and hope its still the same!!:thumbsup2

CM has always been a sentimental favorite of our family, it is where the kids and dh fell in love with all that is Disney on our first family trip in 2002. We have eaten there every trip since, with our last being this past July. Sadly, I think it will really be our last unless I hear that things change.

We didn't have some of the problems others have shared. Tables turned over quickly, stations were clean, we saw all the characters...our problem was purely food quality. I really only enjoyed the salad bar and potatoes, but it is a pricy meal for just that. Even the desserts seemed lacking, and they used to be a highlight.

Chef Mickey for the past few years has been really bad. Now I don't even bother including it on my dining choices. This year we were without a dining reservation so I called and the only thing avaliable was Chef Mickey. I took it. I will say I was surprised at how good it was. I don't know if we got lucky but it really was not bad. This coming from someone who refused to go back.
