As Old Key West members, we love trying other DVCs out. This was a wonderful treat for us! It was our 5th wedding anniversary and we were engaged on the beach and the Beach Club, so we'd requested of view of that.
When I made the reservation, the new policy of guaranteed Boardwalk views had not gone into affect, so we were very disappointed with the change and I made my complaints known (though I was very nice about it). We'd borrowed points for the trip and booked preferred view, hoping for a Boardwalk view and the new policy meant we couldn't get that -- and we couldn't move to a lower room because we'd lose the points we borrowed as our use year is February.
Two weeks after I complained, we got our confirmation that we had a Boardwalk view room. I must admit, I felt a little bad thinking that maybe they had bumped others for our vacation. I had no need to be concerned! The room next to ours, also a one-bedroom, was empty the whole time we were there. Our room was empty on Saturday night, so when we checked in Sunday morning at 10 a.m., assuming we'd just be getting our keys so we could call later for the room number, they let us right into our room! And what a room it was -- 3009 in the "Crest O' The Wave" building area. We could see fireworks from Epcot, our beach, the boardwalk.
We loved community hall too! We're avid air hockey players and free games was a great treat. We also love PlayStation and if we'd had more time, I'm sure we would have played a round or two of Mario Golf. I wish Old Key West had some of these features at Community Hall.
We had no problems at all with the room -- the walk was pretty far from the elevators, but there was a stairwell nearby that dropped us out next to the Wyland Gallery. And the view was worth the walk.
While we loved this room for our special occassion, I don't think we'd get Boardwalk view again for a regular trip. The noise was unbelievable, especially when Jellyrolls closed at 2 a.m. It was warm, so people just mulled around on the Boardwalk, talking loudly, two men were wrestling, etc. We just didn't sleep well.

All in all, a fantastic stay though!

We are BWV owners and have always stayed there in standard rooms. Next Thanksgiving we have a Boardwalk view room booked for the week and we are looking forward to it very much. Glad you had a good time.

Thanks for the trip report! As I sit here in the cold NE I am eagerly counting down the days until I am back at BWV!! Just reading your report made the day a little less cold and gray!
I am sorry you were disturbed by the noise on the boardwalk. We love these rooms and have never been bothered by noise once we close the balcony doors but we are all adults so we are usually up quite late and part of the crowd at Jellyrolls, LOL!

Sounds like you had a great room! Except for the noise. I have booked a Boardwalk View Studio for next Novmeber. Fortunately for me, I tend to sleep like a rock. Thank you for posting your report!:sunny:

Thanks for the nice report and all the positives. Glad that it made your special trip even more special.

I've stayed on the 5th floor over in the Crest, but must have been dead to the world. Never heard a thing after I got to sleep.

Sounds like a great time!! We had a standard view room, near the entrance, and I was woken up several nights with people leaving the Bars at closing time. Many of them thought yelling and singing at the top of their lungs as they walked to their cars (good grief, I hope they had a designated driver) was a fun idea. I'd probably never be able to sleep with a Boardwalk view LOL.

We were just there in Nov in a 2 bedroom Boardwalk view, and the noise didn't bother us at all. We love being close to all the excitement. But, where is the community hall? Our DGD's would have loved a place to go and play games for free.

Community Hall is out by Luna Park Pool (I think that's the name of it). There was air hockey, foozball and three playstations. Very nice set-up!

Actually, it's right next to the BWV quiet pool - between the quiet pool and the canal that goes to the Studios.

The Luna Park pool is the main feature pool - the one with the "scary" ;) clown slide.

Ha! Tuesday night was the really bad night. Sunday and Monday we didn't hear a thing and Wednesday there was noise that woke us up, but it wasn't too bad and it was just people leaving. But Tuesday night the people poured out of JellyRolls and just hung out on the Boardwalk screaming and singing and laughing and wrestling. I stood on the balcony for a while hoping they'd notice me in my pajamas and realize they woke me up -- there was a man one floor up and a few rooms over who seemed to be doing the same thing as me. They stayed until about 2:45 p.m. Seems to me Disney might just want to have a CM shoo people along after Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance close for the night -- there's no place for them to spend their money by then so it's not like Disney would be losing money or anything. I know the noise isn't a nightly problem, but even one night of ruined sleep can put a damper on a Disney vacation.

Anyway, we loved the Boardwalk and would definitely stay again, though I'll be happy to save the points and get a standard view next time.

Not sure if we got any of the inside of the room -- most are just of the view from the balcony. They're all digital so I'll check tonight and post any if we've got them.

Can't wait to see pictures! We have a 2BR BW view for our summer trip, it'll be our first stay at BWV (we own there). :)

Hi,

Thanks for sharing! Happy Anniversary!!!!

Sorry guys -- no pictures of the inside of the room. Just some shots of the view, which I'm not going to bother to post because they're just the beach across the way which everyone knows.

Ah-ha! Tuesday night explains why I've never had a problem. The first time, we arrived Wed and left Tues and the second time, we arrived Wed and moved over to BCV on Sunday.
