**REVIEW** Best Western Park Place Inn

It was very clean when we were there last year. I'm really anal about hotel rooms as well and I didn't notice anything icky at all.

Thank you both for the advice!

These are both good things to hear actually! The only bad things I see, I keep in mind that the internet is used for you know what and complaining. So I just wanted to make sure because even DLH got pretty shabby after awhile. The outside looks motelly and from recent photos there are not those weird colorful comforters on the bed, which kind of comforts me as well, as nothing skeeves me out more than those awful comforters and flipping them over to the not-so-white underside. Yes, I am that person. Haha.

Is the walk really that close? I've always found the walk from DLH to be pretty long, but I never minded because of all the welcoming Disney music in Downtown Disney. Last time though I got sick (not stomach-sick, just the common flu) and was pretty exhausted for most of the trip, so the walk back to DLH got a little labored at times, even from the monorail. Also, what is the best way to get back to Park Place? Would I need to take the monorail and then walk?

The thing that I like the most about staying on the park is The Magic, the little bit of pixie dust. I've never encountered a bad cast member, they're always full of smiles and tell me when the last time Zac Efron was in the park (yeah yeah, I know, I'm 19 gimme a break :P). The music and the wishing you good night over the loudspeaker walking through Downtown Disney back to the hotel, the Disneyesque music in the lobby, walking by the gift shop and past the pool. Being able to sneak down to Goofy's Kitchen or the Walt memorabilia by the conference rooms in the middle of the night. I'm really scared staying off the park will make my trip less magical. Trying not to think that way, but I can't help it! This is my first time off the park, and it's my fifth visit.

BWPPI is the closest you can get unless you're staying in the Grand Californian. I was just using mapmyrun.com yesterday because I have a few standing reservations and I'm trying to decide which to keep and DLH is twice as far away from the main esplanade as BWPPI (.45 miles vs. .21 miles).

The weird colored comforters are gone; there are now white bedcovers, which were immaculately clean when I stayed there.

The walk really IS that short...under 5 minutes from a room at the back of the property to the turnstiles :woohoo: The Monorail wouldn't really factor in to getting to/from BWPPI; I wouldn't even use the Monorail to get between Tomorrowland (only place in Disneyland where there's a station) to any of the Disney-owned hotels, as it only picks up/drops off in DTD (not the hotels) and just has too many delays/issues. I miss the old days, when it worked efficiently nearly all the time and actually dropped off at the Disneyland Hotel  With that said, it's a very easy walk to/from BWPPI to the Park: just walk the crosswalk from out in front of the hotel straight to the Esplanade and choose which Park you want to go to. Easy-peasy, and done in under 5 minutes :thumbsup2

Thank you spacemermaid!

Wow, that is pretty sweet. The short walk sounds wonderful. Would you suggest, then, a room closer to the back of the property? Or is the distance really negligible?

Also, is there anything that you could change about your stay there or anything I should look out for?

No problem :hippie:

I had a room waaaaaay at the back of the property...last room, third floor. It was like having the whole hotel to myself, as there was no noise even though the hotel was packed. The distance was NBD; it's not a huge motel. I would not want a room by the pool, though...the pool is sandwiched between 3 walls of rooms and got VERY noisy when I was there. So it was totally worth it to me to have a 5 minute walk from the back of the hotel rather than just a 3 minute walk from the middle/front of the hotel.

The only thing that was not so great was how crowded/disorganized the breakfast was...but hey, it was free, so I'm not complaining. Stay away from the restaurant downstairs (Captain Kidd's), though...it is GROSS. Here on the Disboards, it's almost legendary how gross it is :rotfl: There's a Quizno's a couple of hotels down, and during my stay at BWPPI there were coupon books in the lobby for a "buy a regular sized sandwich, get a free fountain drink and chips or cookie" which was great for a cheap in-room meal.

I was so happy with my stay there in February that I'll be staying there during my holiday trip this year instead of my usual favorite, Stovall's.

Haha! My plan was to eat corn flakes or cheerios every morning before going to Wetzel's in Downtown Disney (my absolute favorite place) for my jalapeno cheese pretzel dog... but I've heard awful things, including "yes they have fresh milk... fresh in 2007 from Australia!" :scared1: Guess I'll have to do a Von's order or something.

Can you tell me if it was outdoor entry into the room, or indoor? My mother would do the chair against the door if it were outdoor, and there's also the possibility of *gulp* roaches..........

Sonnyjane, where are your standing reservations, and where are you in your decision now?

I had a room at Park Vue Inn for a while but with the recent AP discounts being released, I was thinking it might be a good time to book at Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotel. Using mapmyrun.com, Paradise Pier actually is a little closer (.10 miles) than DLH, so that put PPH at the top. Then I emailed my little sister (12 years younger than me) and told her it was totally her decision and she chose Paradise Pier (what I was hoping! :woohoo:), so I cancelled with Park Vue and I'm looking forward to my first on-site stay!!!

Most of the time I'm perfectly fine with staying at the Harbor hotels (Park Vue, Ramada, Tropicana, Camelot, etc. - I've done it all) but this trip has a little more meaning so I'll appreciate the splurge :)

twelvesixteen:

The breakfast upstairs is totally seperate from Captain Kidd's (different dining room, different food); there was no problem with the milk (or any of the food or drinks) at all. But, if you wanted to do a Vons order to supplement the free breakfast, that's probably a good idea & what I'm planning to do for my next trip...maybe get some microwaveable bacon or sausage patties and some yogurt to go with the stuff in the breakfast the hotel provides.

BWPPI has outdoor entry as opposed to hallway entry; there are several elevators and, IIRC, there are also rooms to specially accomodate those who use a chair to get around :thumbsup2
