FAYETTEVILLE Fayetteville coach Carson Grier didnt have any worries about his players going out on the town to celebrate their first win of the season.
He knew exactly where theyd be going.
They went home and went to bed, Grier said. I can guarantee you that.
They needed to rest. They had just won a hard-fought 68-58 victory over Lincoln Saturday night in the Fayetteville Thanksgiving Tournament.
Were not nearly as big as most other folks, Grier said. We have to play hard. Thats what I ask of them effort. We may be outsized, but were going to scratch, paw and grab and fighting for every point we get.
Fayetteville got the most points from Daniel Crowe. He turned in 22 points to lead all scorers.
Senior Marcus Huntley added 19 points and Luke Sherbert got all his 12 points via 3-pointers.
Lincoln (0-2) was led by Shaq Cochran with 16 points. Daniel Rivers chipped in 14 points and Marquise Clark added 11. Jeremy Weed had nine rebounds.
Lincoln cut the Fayetteville lead to eight points with two minutes to go. The Golden Bears got a steal, but missed the layup taking the wind out of their sails.
Despite being undersized overall, Fayettevilles tallest player in action Saturday night played a lot bigger than his 6-foot-2 frame.
Sergio Crow led all players on the boards with 22 rebounds. He also picked up 22 rebounds in a 71-70 loss to Marbury on Friday night.
OMG OMG!!! i almost forgot about the articles!!! woohoo!!!! luke got all 12 from threes!!!! i forgot to tell you all that!!! omg, that article rocks!!!!!! i hope we win soon so that were in the news!!!!! plus i wanna see something about matt and more about luke in there!! i love hearing about people in our grade doing well{luke}!!!!!
