Revealing the trip to the kids....???

I need ideas....I've been watching youtube, the videos of all the surprise announcements the day they leave. I have a 9 year old and 3 year old (hes almost 4)....I want to come up with a cute unique way of surprising them. I don't want to just do the typical, "hey guess what we're going to disney today". I want to do something a little more cute and that has something to it.

Any ideas???

one time when we were going, after they finished the here's how your seatbelt works, etc demonstration on the plane, one of the flight attendants went on the speaker thing and was like

ASHLEY I KNOW YOUR MOM AND DAD TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE GOING TO VISIT YOUR GRANDPARENTS IN SOUTH CAROLINA BUT YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

it was way more cute than that i'm paraphrasing it because it was a long time ago and i don't remember exactly what she said. it's not completely typical

i'm not sure how one would arrange such a thing.

We are not telling our children. Ours are 13 and 12 they dont even have a clue that we are going on a trip. I've got it all worked out. They will miss the last day of school (teachers already know) and go about a "normal day" the day of flight. The plan is go to school, work, and after school activities, and the husband and I will take a cab to pick them up from after school activities to go straight to the airport. It will be time for us to check in anyways ...I always pack for any family outings so it not out of the norm either. Hubby and I will be "closet packing" lol. 80 days and counting. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

We're going in May, and are not telling the kids (13 and 8) until Easter. Each year we do an Easter egg hunt, and this year we're planning on revealing through the egg hunt. I'm ordering a custom picture puzzle, and we will hide a few pieces of the puzzle in each egg. Once all of the eggs are collected, the kids will assemble the puzzle pieces and it it will reveal our surprise trip.

We're already preparing them unknowingly though. We homeschool, and we're studying each of the countries represented in Epcot. Today we started with Norway, learning the basic facts about the country. Tomorrow we're making Norwegian pancakes for breakfast. Won't they be surprised when they find out they've been studying for our trip!

Our DD's are 5 and almost 2, so this is really more for the 5 year old, but we're doing a scavenger hunt the night before we leave! We'll be staying at my IL's house, so the scavenger hunt will lead us there and finish there. She will find a puzzle piece with each clue and put it together to reveal her final clue which will lead to their garage. In the garage will be a wrapped box filled with their luggage, outfits to wear on the plane and Mickey, red, yellow, black and white balloons with a note that says, "You're going to Disney World!"

She's going to die and has no idea we're going back. We keep telling her we're going back when her sister "is 3 or 4". Love it! Can't wait to hear what you decided to do!

We are planning a November trip which will cover ds8 and dd5's next birthdays. Our ds10's birthday is in June. Our plan is to give HIM a gift for his birthday that will be an enormous paper chain, one link for each day until our trip, and make the announcement then as a way to make his day extra-special, too. And we definitely wanted to tell our kids in advance bc a couple of them would totally balk at having no prep time. ;-) We also homeschool, though, so we could really have some fun learning as we are getting ready! Great ideas!

My mom is taking me and my daughters as a gift for my 40th which was last September. She packed up a bunch of Disney travel information with lots of flyers which had lots of pics. I was totally surprised. However she wanted to go in August this year, so the long wait started for me and my girls almost a year before our trip. The girls have been great about saving their money, helping me make ADRs and touring plans and playing with all the great Disney apps I have put on my phone. For all of my obsessive planning I doubt I could have kept the trip a secret from them for a year, so I am glad they found out when I did.

i watched a video on youtube where they got all dressed up in pirate garb and had the kids follow a treasure map that led them to a chest with the tickets and stuff in it, the pirate in me was overjoyed and i wish my parents had done something cool like that!

I made a puzzle (they sell puzzles that are plain white) and drew a bunch of Disney stuff on it! Solved the puzzle = off we go!!!

We usually drive. We have put the kids in the car 2 times and driven to Disney without them knowing where we were going. We drive during the night while they are sleeping and wake them up when we are near the Walt Disney World sign. I have several videos. They were shocked each time. My oldest is autistic and the other kids figured it out before she did but were silent until she figured it out too.

Surprised kids (12 and 15 last year) with a trip. We packed a big box full of disney items, the packs they would carry in park, maps we ordered from Disney, snacks etc... Put all of that in bottom of box, got some helium balloons and put on top, taped box shut. We had them 'discover' the boxes and when they opened the box, the first balloon to pop out said 'SURPRISE, you're going to Disney World!!). Priceless, they sat for hours going through the box, over and over and over!!

I don't have kids to surprise with a trip, but I LOVE watching videos of other people surprising their kids! This is one of my favorites, and a great way to surprise for a birthday trip. Makes me tear up a little bit too!
