Anyone rent a home there lately? We are booked onsite, but as with every trip lately, we second guess and end up offsite! Usually stay at WH but love the pics of reunion. Opinions?

We stayed at a home in Reunion a couple of years ago. Here it is:

http://www.vrbo.com/102074

We were very pleased, it was lovely, clean, well maintained. It is hard for me to not stay at a WDW resort, even if it is at the Swan/Dolphin. I just had to accept that it was a different kind of vacation.

The only issue I had was that to get to the house we had to drive all the way through the resort, due to it being a gated community. There was an exit to the main road that was close to the house, but you couldn't enter at that spot. Other than that, it was very nice.

Reunion is great! Beautiful, 2 water Parks, very nice homes, gated, safe, 3 golf courses... If I were to visit and rent a home it would be there. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the parks from there. There are 2 gates ... One off of hwy 429 and one off of I-4.

We stayed at Reunion earlier this year and loved it. Just be aware not all owners have access to the big water park area so be sure to ask if access is included. Each "neighborhood" has a pool but the water park is great; lazy river, big pool plus the water park area for kids.

Would highly recommend Reunion. It's higher end than WH and much bigger . Multiple communities many with their own community pool. As OP indicates ensure you are clear with owner/manager was your access rights are to major facilities, primarily the waterpark. Good website just serving Reunion is ReunionPrivateRentals .com

Hope that helps.

Thank you for all of the positive reviews! We're still waffling on what to do, but if we rent a house, it will be in Reunion this time.

Thanks again!!

Joining in here! I just found Reunion Resort online and am considering staying there in 2016 as a big family get together! It seems so nice. We have stayed at Windsor Hills a few times but the place we stay at is a bit worn down.

Our daughter is running in the Disney Marathon, so we are going to cheer her on... and take a break from Minnesota January cold. The in-laws are coming too, so there will be 5 of us. I have been searching the Internet for lodging and we settled on Reunion. We stayed there about 7 years ago and enjoyed it very much.

The least expensive room through Wyndham (who now runs Reunion) would be $2,800 for the 9 nights we are staying. I found many options on VRBO for about $1,000.

Alternatives we considered were:

- On-site at CBR or POR... one room would be a similar cost to the Reunion town home, since we get a discount on CBR/POR (annual pass holders) and would not need a car if staying on-site. But we would need a second room, driving the cost to more than double.

- Bonnet Creek... we were just there in September ($499/week for 3 bedroom!) and enjoyed it. However the prices from Wyndham are crazy high, and the discounters don't do much to help until the dates get close to keep units full. We can't wait until last minute this time since the Marathon dates are fixed so we need to lock something in.

- Bahama Bay Resort... we have stayed here many times and like it a lot. It costs about 10% less than Reunion, but it is a little further away from WDW and not quite as nice as Reunion.

Our airfare is "free" from credit card points. Next step is to shop for a rental car. Past experience suggests waiting until a few weeks before we go, when the car rental companies get competitive.

I have found that the farthest I reserved a car the cheaper it would be. The last we went I booked it 1 year out. I booked through enterprise and it was half of what it should have been. Even they were amazed at the price. 2 weeks in Orlando with a tahoe, 300 bucks. It was a steal!

I almost booked a house at Reunion. It has it's own pool, but it looks very small and they charged $18/day extra to heat it. I decided to go with a Reunion town home instead. We stayed in the same town home section when we were there last time and it was very nice. It is about a 2 minute walk from a nice medium sized pool. Neither the house or the town home include use of the Reunion water park, so if it's warm enough we will go to a WDW water park instead.

Good post. Curious about the "higher end" than Windsor Hills comment. We have stayed there, and it is hard to imagine anything much higher end than that. I am not arguing with you at all, just curious as to what makes Reunion higher end?

Thanks.

Ed

Hi Ed - Reunion is very different to Windsor Hills. It's vast and sprawling. In the north of Reunion you'll find 12 bed super mansions and above. The resort is immaculate and home to top restaurants etc. Finishes in homes are high end. By that I mean things like marble kitchen worktops. Personally that kind of thing doesn't bother me. You cant look past Windsor Hills but if you want 10 bedrooms with a private cinema and a 18meter private pool you won't find that in WH but you will in Reunion. Hope that helps. Dave

Reunion is pretty high end. Just look at the selling prices on Zillow. I believe the monthly dues are high too.

Renting can be expensive too. Try VRBO and save 50%+ compared to going through Wyndham.
