We are considering Reunion, Grand Cypress or Omni at Champions Gate for part of our stay. My DH and DS 15 want to golf so we need golf plus nice pools for the other 2 DSs 13, 10.

Anyone have comments on any of these? The best $ deal we could find is at Reunion.

Thanks

I have not stayed at any of your 3 but in doing research on Florida golf courses, the Reunion was a very highly rated resort. Hope that helps.

Reunion is probably the nicest of all of the resorts, and the best golf courses to boot, in fact it's probably one of the nicest resorts in the Orlando area (nicer than Windsor Hills even! wow...thought I'd never say THAT did you!? hehe). But, it's expensive, not quite as close to WDW, and the target audience or clientele is more of an upscale type of family who is looking to play golf, stay in a much higher end type of resort (it does have daily maid service and onsite bars / restaurants, for instance), etc. So, that would be my recommendation if you're looking for a super luxe place to stay! :thumbsup2

Reunion is our favourite place to stay and I can't wait to get back there. We haven't stayed at Omni Championsgate, but we have visited for meals several times. It's a very nice resort, but Reunion is unique. The whole place is immaculate and the golf courses are stunning.

Something to bear in mind is that you can play golf at the two hotels whether or not you are staying there, but that's not true of Reunion. If you chose to stay there, your menfolk could easily play at Championsgate as well - it's right next door.

Reunion has several pools. The water park is gorgeous.

Of course, you're not really comparing like with like. Reunion isn't a hotel, it's a gated community-cum-resort, so it depends what you're looking for. There's a small bar in the clubhouse, together with a dining room. Now that the Reunion Grande is open (is that where you're planning on staying, rather than in a condo or home?), there are some additional eating options.

Just don't tell too many people about it. :ssst: ;)

Hey, by the way.... if you're looking to get a good deal at Reunion, I know of an owner who rents out his new place directly to "friends and family!"... at a steep discount off of the resort rates. PM me for info!

You would be "friends and family" too since they try very hard not to let the owners do this kind of thing! hehe :rolleyes1

(He contacted me and asked me to a do a website for his home similar to mine...then found out he's not really allowed to do this exactly...long story, but they have the resort setup differently than the other area resorts...so you cannot really rent it out directly by owner....but there's ways...there's always ways! hehe )

Owners at Reunion have two choices (assuming they want to make their home available to third parties, of course) - either rent privately, or join the Reunion rental program. If they choose to join the program, they agree not to rent for profit so many, as you say, use the 'friends and family' option. I've now got a couple of 'friends' there. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Hyatt Grand Cypress:thumbsup2
What a wonderful place! The pool is phenomenal. The boats, bikes, and all the other activities are great. There is something for everyone !:cool1:
They run specials on their website too. Summersplash was the one we used last summer. Think it was $169.

2mins2disney and UKDEB,

Could you pm me your "friends and family" at the Reunion Resort? I don't have enough posts yet to send you a message. Thanks!

Hehe....yes you can join the "friends and family" program too! ( I think I sent you my "family" contacts there too Deb! LOL)

PMing you...

George,

Is there nothing you can't do? I am so impressed with how much you help everyone on this board. I wish your villas were available for our dates. We'd take 2! Unfortunately my grandmother has passed away and we are getting together for a rememberance service/family reunion. We didn't have the luxury of planning too far in advance this time.

Thanks for all your help!!!

Carrie

Is it necessary to have a car at Reunion? We are very excited about our first visit there and we are staying in a 3 bedroom villa. I'd love to see pix too!

You'll need a car. The resort itself is huge. Depending upon what area you're in it would be a very long walk to the resort pool, clubhouse, etc. You're also a bit further to WDW and others than some of the closer in resorts. Unless you like keeping the local cabbies in green, a car is pretty much a necessity.

My confirmation says Seven Eagles Golf View. We usually don't like to drive during vacations-- I think that is because we normally stay on Disney property where we'll be earlier in the week. I was just hoping to get along without one. Ginn says they have golf carts to transport you around. Have you ever used one?
