Returns to Club 33?

A friend bought some Club 33 merchandise while dining there a few weeks ago (less than a month) and is thinking about returning them. They are all still unworn, unused, etc. Some she bought for people who asked for them but still haven't paid for them.

If she has the receipt, can she return them? How? At any merchandise location (Emporium, etc.)? Or does she have to return to Club 33, ring on the bell, and ask?

She's not a member but knows someone who knows someone who is a member (so is that knowing twice removed?!)

Thanks for any help.

Sell them. She will probably get more than she paid for them.

She should either contact her host who made the reservation for her, as they would know Club 33 return procedures or call the Park (714-781-4000) and tell them she was a guest of a member at Club 33 and has a question. They will transfer her to someone who can answer her question.

Ah, good idea. Never thought about that - maybe she didn't want to inconvenience her. Well, she's got an AP so I'll pass along the info. Thanks so much!

You might also ask if she REALLY wants to return the items. Most hosts aren't going to be thrilled at something like this. And imagine the conversations...

Guest - I'd like to return these.
Club 33 - OK, was there a problem with them?
Guest - No, I purchased them for friends and they didn't pay me.

I so +1 this. It’s going to be even more awkward because it’s a friend of a friend who is a member. A member went out of their way to not just do a favor for a friend, but a friend of a friend, so this is coming back not just on the member but on the friend of as well. Everything that happens regarding guests is a reflection on the member. If they try to return the merchandise I'm pretty sure that the friend of friend won't see another reservation through this member and the friend who assisted probably won't have any of their other friends accommodated in the future and maybe themselves as well.

It’s too bad that the friends of the guest flaked, but that is between the guest and their friends, it shouldn't come back on the club or the member.

Ah, good thoughts to think of. I don't think she realizes that it's going to reflect on the member at all, but something to think about. Thanks for all the tips!

Stuff like this makes it harder for non-members. That member is probably way more hesitant now to accomodate any friends or friend of friends.

Please encourage your friend not to return the items.

Personally, I'd rather lose money on the items purchased than burn my Club 33 bridge and potentially making the friend or (friendof a friend) look bad in the eyes of the member. I suspect they could be sold on e-bay without losing too much $. We are fortunate enough to going back to Club 33 in less than two weeks thanks to a friend of a friend of the Member and will probably be picking up a couple of souveniers for ourselves.

I'm actually going to disagree. First of all, she does not have to go back through her host. She just calls up Club 33 and lets them know she needs to return some items. When she rings the bell, says the same thing and they will let her in. I had to do this once (granted, mine was an exchange not a return) and had absolutely no issues and never bother my friend that hosted the luncheon. Exchanges and returns are a fact of life in retail so it should not be an issue with Club 33.

That being said, personally I would hold on to them and either give them qw gifts to someone that it would understand the significance or she could sell them on eBay. It is a rare opportunity to not only dine at Club 33 but to be able to purchase souvenirs so, again, I would keep them. Heck - she could probably post on the community board and sell them! There are a lot of Dis'ers who would love to have Club 33 items!

I would be interested in knowing what she purchased, I may be interested in buying from her. When we went to the Club the items we were hoping to buy were sold out. :(

I'm actually going to agree with your disagreement :rotfl:
There is no link between the Club 33 member and purchases by guests, so a return cannot reflect poorly on the member.

In this instance if you were the member and a friend of a friend had bought several pieces of Club 33 merch and was wanting to return them because the people she bought them for flaked, would you be more or less likely to make a reservation for her in the future if you knew about it?
