I am a former CP from way back in 2002. Completed my program in good standing. I graduated around 2005 - I tried for a PI but didn't get in..

My degree is in computing and due to the economy I never got a job in my field after graduating and its pretty much obsolete right now. I want to work for Disney again - my college program is really the best thing I got out of going to college.

I've been considering re-enrolling in college so I can do another program and hopefully get my foot back in the door at Disney. Any advice on what program I should be looking into?

Am I crazy even to be considering going back to college? I'm still paying off my loans from the last time...

Why not just apply for a regular CM role? You don't accumulate any seniority on the CP and you don't make as much.

Seconding this. I considered doing another CP, applied for a PT role online and ended up getting a FT offer (due in part I think to my previous CP experience). Definitely worth it if you can get there to interview.

Technically, as long as you have one class, you can apply for the CP, even if that class is only half a credit. Do you want a whole new career, or just something to get you by and get your foot in the door again?

As to everyone else who just suggested going straight through, not using the CP, this is a whole lot harder in my experience, and isn't always financially sound. One of my friends is part time right now, and she has to have a second job just to survive. She's not guaranteed hours, can't always pick them up, and she hasn't had a day off in almost two months between both jobs. But on the CP she was guaranteed enough hours to survive.

Also, if you really try, you can market yourself really well on the CP, another of my friends did it for the second time after he graduated, and he went straight in to a PI, and was offered full time when that was over, in Guest Relations.

So OP, I would go for it! Just know that you're going to have to take the reins when you get there.:thumbsup2

I don't see any harm in applying to both though. Yes, it's more difficult to get a "real" job with them, but seniority starts earlier and you're down there networking and presumably on the wait list for FT. Pros and cons to both.

I'd also say be 100% certain of what you want out of college (if you don't take just a 1-credit course) AND from Disney before doing anything.

It's not difficult to get a regular role. Get yourself in with whatever is open and you can always transfer later. The CP isn't more stable, it's over in five months and nothing is ever guaranteed after. You can grow quicker from a regular role and you will start getting seniority. You get no seniority from a CP. You can always take a class along with working.
