We are about to go to Aulani for two weeks. The first week we are renting a car through Costco. We are picking it up at the airport and then I guess we have to return it at the airport? The second week we are staying on property. I thought we'd drop the car off at the airport and then Uber to Waikiki and see the sights. How do we get back to Aulani? Is Uber the only choice and approx. how much does that cost?

I'd suggest driving to Waikiki to see the sights and then return the car to the airport. From the airport you can take a taxi or uber back to Aulani. It will be less expensive than taking one from Waikiki.

We just returned ourselves. Taxis were flat rate $78 plus tip to airport. Ubers were about $10-15 less for an UberXL.

BTW, hope you're staying on DVC points, otherwise I think even self-parking is a ridiculous amount per night. And if you are on points, make sure to get tokens from the front desk if you want to do laundry, otherwise it's $10 a load.

There's also the Hele Hele shuttle that goes from the airport to Aulani.

And I know you said you are renting through Costco, but Alamo does have the option to do a one way rental from the airport to Aulani. I have it booked this way for next week. The trick is that when you are searching on their website, you can't set your drop off time anytime after 1pm because that's when the rental car closes at Aulani.

On Costco travel there is an option to rent at HNL and return to Aulani or to Marriott next door. It *might* be more than HNL to HNL rental but no hassle and no wasted time vacation time driving to and from Airport to drop off.

$40 for valet parking is not a ridiculous amount at an oceanfront Hawaii resort. The Four Seasons next door is $50. Hilton Hawaiian Village is $82.75. Turtle Bay on the North Shore is $42.
