Ok, We are going to start by having a little into to our situation and players. Sorry if it's a little long.
First DH, Mike, age 46. Except his name is only "Mike" to me. Everyone else calls him by his first given name "Soren." You see, 46+ years ago Mike's dad was working for a big multi-national corporation and they sent him (his dad) to Scandavia for two years. Mike's mom gave birth and decided to give Mike the rather ususual (for the good old U.S. of A, never mind for an NJB (nice Jewish boy) name of Soren Michael. Soren is a very common name over there but whatever.
At that time my dad also worked for the Big Multi-national corporation and they knew each other. Our mom's were friends. After Mike was born his mom really wanted to come home. So after only 10 months they did. Mike and I played together at family gatherings. By the time Mike was 4 or 5 he announced that he DID NOT want to be called Soren but rather Mike. However, when he went to college, he started going by Soren and he uses that name at work too. So its just me pretty much that still calls him Mike.
When we were 10 and 11 in 1971, our dads' company was providing certain services to Disney (very boring, rest assured, it had to do with lighting). Our dad's worked on one of the projects and got really into Disney. So they decided to take both family's to Disney right when it opened. We stayed at the Poly and had a great time.
Mike and I did not date as kids but hooked up later at a family gathering and the rest is history. We have two DD's: Skylar age 10 (as of Wednesday) and Sophie (age 8).
We have always wanted to take them to the Poly and the time was finally right. So, we (meaning I) planned and planned and just got home from the best vacation of our lives!
When I made our reservations the Disney CRO asked how old my kids would be when we travelled. When I told her Skylar would turn 10 on the trip. She told me that she refused to put down that she was 10 because it would cost us more money. I offered to do whatever was right and she listed Skylar's age as 9.
We got the meal plan, so the vacation was really a good deal. The only bad thing was that Skylar was bummed that she was listed as a kid. She is the youngest in her grade (5th) because she started kindergarten early and hates it, so she has been really looking forward to being 10 and couldn't believe she was still considered 9 and under on the trip!
Any way that is the background. Details of the trip to come!
