Return to the Madness: Part 4 Day 2 2/26: Lions, Waiters, and Wishes! Oh My! (contd)
Cast:
Me: Obsessive Disney Planner, Disney Commando in 12 step program learning how to do Disney with kids!!!
DH 30- Loves Disney as much as me, but content to sit at the pool and watch the kids
DD6- knows everything, or thinks she does
DD5- loves everything, especially if it is pink
DS4- loves Buzz. We call him Stitch, he is messy and destructive, but very cute.
By the time we made it back to MK, it was around 630pm. Spectromagic was scheduled for 8 and 10. Wishes was at 9. The kids were tired from all the swimming and wanted to go back and do even more swimming. (Hey kids, were at Disney World, there is a little bit more to do than swim you know!) We grabbed a seat just at the end of Main Street, just before the green walls of the hub. Others were starting to sit as well. A few people walked by and asked why we were sitting. When I told them we wanted a good spot for the parade they all replied, The parade isnt until 8. I assured them all that we knew that and within about 10 minutes our sidewalk was covered in people saving spots. (I wasnt crazy I knew it was crowded and although I hoped a lot of people would wait for the 10 parade, I wasnt taking any chances).
DH took the kids to the shops and bought them each a stuffed animal. When they came back it was my turn to go and get some snacks. On the way I passed a half dozen of the carts selling light up toys. DH and I had vowed not to come home with too many toys this time (last trip we had 2 suitcases full of toys) but I bought each child a light up toy anyway. I got the cotton candy, popcorn, drinks and other snacks and headed back to the kids. When I got back DH decided he wanted to check out the bakery. He came back with two slices of chocolate cake. We all enjoyed our snack and before too long it was time for the parade to begin.
Spectromagic was awesome. I swear there were some new floats in there, or least some I didnt remember from our August trip. The kids were getting very tired during the parade, and DS finally fell asleep. He ended up missing Wishes, as did DD6, but that was okay since we knew we would catch it again.
One thing I remember vividly about this night was that since we had staked out our spot early, we had plenty of room for us all, right on the curb. (we sat right next to a trash can so we could have a little extra room as well.) The strollers held spots for the kids, and DH and I had sweatshirts on the ground to sit on. DH asked a few kids behind the crowd of grownups if they would like to stand behind him so they could see. Of course the wanted to! The kids were getting very rowdy right before the parade was to begin. DH actually had to speak to them several times they were so rowdy that they kept banging in to DSs stroller and almost knocked the whole thing to the ground. The parents of these kids were no where to be seen. I was a little disturbed by this Dh didnt have to offer to let them stand in a great spot where they could see everything, but he did, and they just didnt seem to be grateful. He felt bad that he had to speak to them several times to get them to calm down I just wish their parents had been nearby. The kids disappeared into the crowd quickly after Spectro was over. I felt bad for them.
Anyway, we stayed where we were until Wishes started. We got to see Tinkerbell fly, which I had missed in August so I was thrilled. The kids each rested in their strollers on the boat on the way back to the Wilderness Lodge. (Glad we brought them). When we got back to the room, the kids were actually too tired to swim .but they asked us if they would get to swim the next day. We assured them they would as they drifted off to sleep.
Up Next: Rain Rain, Go Away, DH wants to go to ESPN Weekend and Play!
