Return of the Rhine River

Here is a rumor that the old concept of the dark ride/ rhine river cruise coming to Germany at World Showcase. Personally, I like this better than the thrill ride rumors.

I posted a thread a while ago about this pre-opening book on Epcot that I found a while back at a garage sale, where Disney actually had plans to build this ride at some time after opening day, but sadly, it never materialized. Maybe there will finally be some light at the end of the tunnel on this one. :confused3

This certainly makes a lot more sense for WS than the Mt Fuji idea for the Japanese pavilion does. It's more fitting with the overall concept and feel of world showcase and would offer another attraction to draw people to the area.

Gee, I wonder if we could drink a beer while riding down the Rhine River like I've done in Germany??:rotfl:

And the building is already there.......

How would an E or even D ticket attraction work in the World Showcase? You would have a lot of people walking through the WS before it opened. Wonder if that would get them to open the WS at 9:00 with the rest of the park.

I read that one the reasons why Mt. Fiji might be back on the drawing boards is because there may be some pretty tall hotels built on the Bonnet Creek property and the WS skyline may become "marred" with high rises that would be out of place.

BTW:
I would also like to see a Rhine River Ride. I think WS really needs more attractions.

Just my 2 cents.

The Mount Fuji ride would present this problem but I don't believe the Rhine River ride would. Theoretically it would probably be much alike the ride in Norway and thus would just open at 11:00 AM like the rest of WS. This is another reason I don't believe we'll ever see a E ticket attraction in WS.

Just because the outside might look a mountain does NOT mean a E-ticket ride needs to be inside the "mountain".
The "mountain" might have a dark ride in it or a ride that is kind of like the Spaceship Earth ride, a Horizones type ride or a World of Motion type of ride.

I am talking about the way the ride could be laid out not the actual remaking of one the old rides.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW:

Just before the Mt. Fuji rumor started the IAAPA was held in Orlando in November. Many "bigwigs" involved in amusement and theme parks were in town. The Haunted Mansion closed early at 7:30pm for a private event.According to rumor Iger himself was there.
Rumor has it that when Iger attended the HM event he was overhead saying to expect a big announcement soon.
The newspapers reported that Meg Crofton in her keynote address specifically avoided talking about anything new for WDW.

It has been reported that Bob Iger was in EPCOT on November 14th filming a lot of things.

Then a couple of weeks later a few forums stating posting the MT. Fuji Rumor.

Are these events related?

Would anyone with some inside info care to share?

Just my 2 cents.

You know the standard spiel, "No eating drinking or flash photography, yada, yada, yada." Of course if they did it auf Deutsch, then we might be able to plead ignorance.

Yeah, like they used to. I remember on my first WDW trip as an adult, making the mad dash to the French bakery to grab up some breakfast items first thing after the entire park opened in the morning...boy, those pastries tasted *good*.

agnes!

If they do actually create this Rhine River ride, it would be kind of funny to have 3 boat rides concentrated within the four first countries heading clockwise around the lagoon.

Then there's the rumor of a log flume ride for Canada! Sounds like every ride (with the exception of Mt Fuji) operational or proposed for WS is based on water in some way or another. Maybe this is because WS is located around the lagoon? Or is there another reason?

First, water is a very, very cheap ride system compared to others (tracks, Omnimover, GPS).

Second, WDW is broiling hot people like a big drenching water ride to "cool off". That's the sole reason for the existance and the name 'Splash Mountain'. While most of Future World is under air conditioning, most of World Showcase is outside and guests complain about the heat. The idea behind a cooling water ride goes all the back to 1982 (poor Dick Nunis was begging for the Materhorn to be built).

This thread is about rumors of new rides at WDW's Epcot. It is not about WWII and bashing countries. All the non-relevant posts have been removed.

Please stay on topic.

I can see that causing a problem..what I meant to say is I can see myself causing a problem if I were allowed to drink a beer on that ride...or any ride.
I can see :drinking1: quickly turning into :rotfl2:

I was there the weekend of Nov 10 and there was a lot of filming going on at Epcot - it was during food and wine fest of course, we asked them what they were doing and they said it was for Loop. We did not question it, however there were a lot of Big Wigs or what we thought seemed like big wigs hanging around that whole week. That is usually a pretty slow one and there seemed to be a lot of plain clothes ppl working the rides, I took them to be Mgrs or higher ups-

ooooo.....now that would be fun

Maybe they will make it REALLY authentic and lift the no smoking rule as well.

Drink a beer and smoke a cigarette, just like in real Germany!!! ;-)

Even better, lets go all geek touristy and they can have people wear Leiderhosen to ride!!!

Seriously, this sounds like fun. WS needs more rides, even if they are just dark ones.
