This King is quickly expanding his domain.

On the heels of last month's Oscar coronation in which The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King pulled off a historic 11-for-11 sweep, New Line has announced plans to bring the final chapter in Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy saga to home video on May 25, months ahead of schedule.

I was so excited to read this! :) :) :)

OOoooo...excellent! Now I can see it sooner than expected. (I'm a little slow on movies...LOL....I just saw the 2nd LOTR 2 weeks ago.)

I heard this a while ago and am *very* glad that it is true!!!

Oooh Boy! I've been trying to get to the theater to see it. Just haven't been able to do that yet. I still have hopes, but will be glad when I can get to see it at home too.

We just finally saw it this past weekend. I think I will wait until they have the box set and then buy that. :)

I'll end up getting both. Can't wait for the extended edition.

DH is gonna freak!!! He is the ultimate Tolkein nerd... since he was a kid! I cannot count how many times we have seen Fellowship or Two Towers... we have both versions of DVD's for each. Now, he read there will be the whole trilogy in one set coming up... guess who's buying that too?

Thanks for the heads up! :D

Yay! I had heard that it might be coming out in May, but wasn't sure if it was true or not. I'll probably end up buying the normal and the extended versions.

Wahoo!!!!!!!
I'll be getting both too!...

nsyncraider17 love your Pics!

I love these films too. I gotta hold out for the extended version that will come out in November(I think). I have a friend who has held out buying any of the DVDs waiting for the "ultimate boxed set" of everything. I just read that will not be released for 2-3 years:earseek:

As much a fan DD is of the LOTR trilogy, we'll wait until December for the extended edition.

Is there a chance that the box edition will come out before December?

Yay!! Though we will only be renting it in May. We hold out for the extended DVD's too. Still, it's reason for a happy dance. Now I know what my 'watch during labor' movie will be since baby #4 is due May 29th.

Why do they wait so long to release the extended version? So we buy 2? No way, I think I'll hold out for the special edition or boxed set.

We'll be in the rent it in May and buy the extended when it comes out. Great movie and we already have the other 2.

We'll be waiting - my sister and I started a tradition with these. I give her the movie for her birthday (late November) and she gives it to me for Christmas. What will we do for Christmas/birthday 2005??
