Return of Borrowed Points

Can borrowed points from 2021 use year still be returned if the reservation is cancelled? I had borrowed a few and now can't make the trip due to surgery.

Only until April 30, but I am not certain if the trip has to be taking place before April 30 or you just have to cancel before April 30.

Thanks - Trip is May 23 and just for 1 night, so it looks like I can cancel now and then ask for the points to be returned.

As long as it done abs cancels prior to end of April, it’s still allowed.

Not that this applies to you, but anyone on the fence should not wait until the last day. Do it at least a few days before in case there are website issues!!

Just know it takes about a week for the points to be returned.

They may be getting backlogged already. I cancelled mine and the CM told me the returns happen on Thursdays. It was a Tuesday so he didn't think it would happen the first Thurday. It didn't happen the second Thursday either. I chatted and they confirmed they are borrowed points in the 2020 UY. So maybe this Thursday. Hopefully! It will be 16 days at that point. I am not in a hurry, I am not booking anything until late May, but hopefully it will happen soon.

Good to know! I just cancelled one reservation and want to make sure those points go back to 2021. But now I know not to worry until at least next week

About a month ago I cancelled a reservation using borrowed points. It took about a week but the points did return to 2022. Someone on the boards has mentioned that on thursdays they do a sweep of reservations canceled and points are returned. That seemed to be pretty much when my points went back. There is a change coming up at the end of April so after that point that may change.
