Return flights with Thomson from £209!

We got back from New York yesterday and we are off to Florida in five months but I'm still tempted!!!! Lol!!

Those prices are great when they're cheaper than EU flights over the summer :(

Tell me about it, we got back from Vietnam 7 weeks ago and I got hol blues. Lol. We go 31st oct, so not long really, but I think DH might be wavering. Lol if we had a moving date I would of def booked at those prices.

Don't forget to include taxes, they are the killer, I got free VA flights using points, but, the government wanted £213 in taxes from me.

According to the thread on Hot UK Deals, the prices include taxes, as well as 20kg of luggage and in-flight meals!

The government does not charge £213 in taxes. Here is a breakdown of the £213:

GBP 120.00 Operating Airline Fuel & Insurance Surcharge
GBP 93.27 Taxes, fees and charges

£120 goes to VA towards running costs of the airline

Now break a breakdown of the £93.27:

USA Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service Fee XA GBP 3.00
USA Immigration Service Fee XY GBP 4.20
USA Customs User Fee YC GBP 3.30
UK Air Passenger Duty GB GBP 69.00
UK Passenger Service Charge UB GBP 12.27
September 11th Security Fee AY GBP 1.50
Total GBP 93.27

As you can see only £69 of your £213 goes to the government in the form of tax.
Although tax is a lot higher than it used to be it wrongly gets blamed for high fares.

Some great prices at the moment.

Some schools near us are not finishing until maundy thursday so easter hols will tie in with some of those flights - sadly not dd's school though :(

Wow just priced ip 2ad 2 kids from man 22nd april till 4th mat £1078!!!!!! Crazy prices !!!!

Arrrrggggghhhh, I've just booked for a week flying this Friday!

How's that for last minute. One DD is off anyway, it's the other's last day of term and she's only 5 so don't feel too bad about a sick day. It is my birthday after all.

Now for accommodation and a car. Anyone got any cheap but pleasant hotel recommendations?

Cheers, Andy

Don't blame you at all.

Accomodation - if you want a condo bahama bay usually comes up pretty cheap. Spacious apartments, very clean.

Rosen Inn pointe orlando was a good hotel and location for the price.

Car hire - think we booked through netflights when we went on our late deal.

Good for you! Glad someone managed to get a bargain!

Although, slight set back, bit the bullet and paid to sit together, finally log in and there are no seats together! What are the odds they'll split us up?

Oh no!

If it was me I would be checking in at the desk super early! I know that VAs policy is not to seat under 12s alone so I would hope you can at least get 2 together!

Phew, logged in this morning (last of about 50 logins over night!) and we've been assigned some seats in a section that was all unavailable last night. Now it's debatable whether the payment to select seats was worth it considering I wasn't able to, however, the seats are pretty good and at least they're together so might try for a refund when home but won't rock the boat now!

About to book Pop Century on Expedia for £545 - 10% unless anyone can find cheaper? I've not got time to use the Oritz code and ring to add kids as apparently you can be on hold for some time. With such a short trip, the extra hours and buses outweigh the savings for staying offsite I think.

A decent sized car seems to be around the hundred mark so barely worth shopping around.

Glad you got your seats sorted.

Agree onsite seems a good plan for a shorter trip - hope you have a great time.

So after very much hard persuasion I finally convinced DH we should go!! :) it took me longer than normal due to us only been back from hols 7 weeks plus we're due to move, but with still no date he has caved.:banana:
This time in 3 weeks we will be there, it was cheaper to get flights from Birmingham for 17 nights than gatwick for 14... £260 each bargain... now to find somewhere to stay and car hire.

Yay Sam lucky you. Plenty of cheap and cheerful places.
