I need to make our airline reservations and have a question about how early I can book our flight home. As I look at the options to get a cheap flight, it looks like I would need to leave pretty early in the day.

How early in the day is it safe to book a flight home?

I don't want to have to be rushing to get off the ship and speed to the airport. I would like the family to be able to get up (pretty early), have breakfast, and then drive (within the posted speed limits ) to the airport. The flight I would like to book is at 11:15 am but I feel that is way too early. So, I am wondering if the 12:50 pm flight is late enough or if we will have a hard time making thta flight time.

I would think 11:15 is pushing it too far. You may make it, but you stated you want to go at a leisurely pace...

Your second option sound perfect...We have had 2 flights in this timeframe, and barring a hugely unforseen circumstance, all should be fine..

FYI, Disney recommends nothing until 12PM.

I agree with Mommasita, we had a 12:15 flight and late seating. We ate breakfast, got our luggage, hopped on the bus and were sitting at ATAs terminal by 10:20.......

We had an 11:00 flight from Melbourne and had no problem. In fact we were at the airport at about 9:15/9:30. I would highly recommend looking into that airport as well. I did use a towncar service from the boat back to the airport so we did not have to deal with the rental car, but used a rental car on arrival. Budget worked out WONDERFULLY for us.

Actually, Disney recommends nothing before 12:30. I suspect that's based on their experience with the normal range of time it takes folks to get off the ship, get to the airport, and clear security.

It took us until 9:15 to get off the ship due to the line. We were at the airport at 10:15. Took 90 minutes to clear security at the airport, so we just BARELY made our 12:35 flight. Literally walked from security right on the plane because they had already started boarding.
If we go again I will look for a later flight.
