Retrieve kids from club for emergency evacuation

Ok, I know the odds are extremely low that an emergency would require evacuation of the ship during my cruise BUT. . .

1. Are you instructed to report to your station WITHOUT your children if they are in the club at the time an emergency is announced?

2. Would any parent consider following these instructions?

The most organized evacuation would probably be accomplished by having the counselors escort the children during an evacuation. However, I can't imagine a parent not wanting to rush down and find their child for themselves.

I asked about this back in 1999 and was told that parents are usually given 15 minutes after an emergency is declared to pick up their children at the club/lab. If the children are not picked up within that time, the staff escorts those children to their lifeboat station. This information is printed on the wristband given to your child when you register. This is why it is very important that your child be wearing that band when they attend the programming.

I asked a leader at the drill the same question, and she said that they do everything they can to unite parent and child. Just better hope they aren't in transition LOL. Anyone that has ever tried to get their child while in transition will know what I mean LOL

When we registered our kids into Oceaneer's Lab last November and March, we were asked (I think there was a space on the registration form for this) where we would like to meet our kids in the event of an emergency. We opted to meet them at our cabin, which was right above the Lab, one deck up. Probably not the best of plans. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be one set policy for this. But our kids were 9 and 11, and were allowed to check themselves out. Maybe that makes a difference.
