Anyone been to Disney World or Disneyland after a retinal detachment? If so, what rides are ok and waht rides do you avoid? We're going to Disneyland in a couple months and I will avoid the obvious (Tower or Terror, California Screamin , Hyperspace Mountain....and also avoid very rough ones such as Indiana Jones (boo hoo as the theming looks cool) and Matterhorn, but not sure about others. It's hard as there are no black and white answers from the doctors.

What types of things - forces, positions, activities - do the doctors tell you to avoid?

That's the thing. The main one is g-forces with quick acceleration as is big rollercoasters. But there is no black and white answer plus 3 different doctors say different things. The surgeon (who I haven't seen since 6 months post op....so about 1.5 years ago), said no restrictions...except adult rollercoasters (but even that may have been just post surgery). My eye specialist, who I saw yesterday, said that bumps and stuff 'should be' ok. He said I can try simple and if ok, work up. My general optometrist said 'be careful'. I guess to a retina surgeon who sees detachments all the time, it's no big deal.

So for anyone else that has a detachment...any specific ones that you avoid or iffy ones that you've gone on and are ok?

I'm asking others with same condition what they choose to avoid and what they feel they are ok to try (any Disney park)....not a description of the rides and how rough they are. Your reply really wasn't necessary.

My son has a detached retina and has done all of the rides at DL and DCA with no problems.

PP expected they were being helpful. Sometimes posters don't ask complete question or may not realize they need additional information. Every piece of information can be helpful (eta - if not to the original poster, to someone with the same condition searching later.)

reading these thread It seems like you have asked this question a few times already and have beed to Disney since your retina detachment, so you should have a good idea of what you can and can not ( or should not do).

Nope...my retinal detachment happened after our Disney trip. Not sure what makes you think otherwise.
And as I said...yes, i have other threads to get an idea of what the rides are like in terms of bumpy, steep hills, acceleration, etc...BUT I posted over here in (in health thread) to hear what others who have been in same health situation decided to avoided or go on. Don't need a snarky response.
