Our trip is april 16-24th, FP+ have been picked, ADR's made and NOW RoL is opening and we are not planning on being in AK on the 22nd, we were planning on the 19th......Would your replan based on this new show opening, possibly swithching our AK day with one of our Epcot days/nights?

In a word, "no."

I've seen F!, and when you've seen one CM-performed musical, images-projected-onto-sprayed-water and mechanical dragon extravaganza, you've pretty much seen 'em all.

If you don't know when you will be back, I would absolutely change my plans to fit it in. I would wait until it is all available and set in stone though . The debut day will be crazy busy I am assuming. Be prepared for that!

I would definitely consider making the changes, but I agree with waiting until you have something official to work with. Maybe start thinking ahead now of what you could shuffle around the most easily to make it fit in. The other option is consider hopppers, that would require the least amount of disruption to your plan.

We will be there from the 16th to the 23rd and we aren't changing anything. We have AK planned for the 17th and we are sticking with it. I'm not going to pay more for Park Hoppers just so that I can go back to AK on the 23rd. I certainly don't need a second full day at AK. So at best I would want to hop to the park for the evening entertainment, but it will be much too crowded for me to consider that, and I don't see a FP being the solution since we will be at a different park earlier that day.

im down there at the same time, get there on the 20th. So our original plan was to do AK on the 21st and TL on the 22nd. Now its Epcot on the 21, TL on 22 and AK on 23 lol

If you get to Disney often then it might be advisable to wait until the kinks are worked out. If it will be a long time before you go back like us then 1st see if you can switch your ADR's and FP with no problems. If you can and are willing to take the chance it may be delayed or that there may be more people in the park then usual then go for it!

thank you all for your responses. Yeah I have decided to stick with my current plan. I am already saving to go back in 2 years hopefully by then ALL new things will be done or at least some of them. I don't like mad-house crowds so maybe HS will be less kooky and everyone will be hoping over to AK...:)

It looks like the first few nights are going to be a madhouse free-for-all. The question becomes: Do you LIKE madhouse free-for-alls?

We are there the first week of May and are highly considering just skipping the night AK stuff. I'm sure it will be amazing, but possibly too new thus too popular to make it enjoyable for us. We're keeping our options open, but aren't necessarily planning to do an AK evening at this point.

I'm hesitant. We'll be there the 16-19 (flying in early Saturday, leaving late Tuesday). I'll be back in November so I'm thinking of holding off until then. But, I am really excited about it, I just don't know if I'm willing to free up 2 of my 3 evenings to possibly be at AK. AND.. yeah the mad house free-for-all thing, not so sure I wanna partake in that.

On the other hand how awesome would it be to get there for a soft opening if there is one!?

Can you free up 1 or 2 of your evenings to "wing it" just in case?

If RoL is anything like DL's World of Color it will be pretty awesome. MUCH better than Fantasmic! at DHS.

I would not miss ROL. I cant wait to see it. I would do AK on your last day there hoping some of the opening crowds have already gone.

If I was in your shoes, I would wait and see if I could snag a ROL dining package. IF I could manage that, then I would rejig my plans, in order to accommodate it. If I couldn't, then I'd think, "It'll be too crowded!" and stick with my original plan. :)

I'm in a really odd situation. Weeks ago, I booked Tusker House for 6:35pm on April 22nd as the last step in my Animal Kingdom Touring Plan including perfectly timed FastPasses. Little did I know what else would happen on that day. Does anyone have any idea as to what time the Rivers of Light show will start? What are my chances for converting my Tusker House ADR into the much anticipated ROL dining package? I, too, am now rethinking . . .

RoL is supposed to be at night. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the sun sets between 7:30pm-8:00pm in april I think. If that's so, you'll still have almost an hour before the show. And even if you don't, supposedly there'll be more than one RoL per night, so even if you miss the first showing, you might still manage to get into a second one.

In mid-late April, the earliest the show could start would be 8:15-8:30PM.

Fantasmic!, which also requires total darkness, starts at 8:30 on most nights in April.
(F! at 9PM on the last couple of nights in April.)
