Rethinking my resort choice.....

Ugghhh, we had originally booked CSR for our May trip. We received a nice *welcome back* kit about the resort and what not....when the new codes came out we changed to AKL, then to savannah view.
Yesterday, I get home and in the mail I have the *Goofy* letter from CSR, that had our name and telling us a little about the resort and everything.
We haven't received anything from AKL and we are paying $517.00 more for our 4 night stay. I would like to try both resorts, but now I am thinking that we would be sitting pretty in CSR with a $517 room credit.
I guess I am just bummed that aside from our reservation letter we haven't received anything from AKL......I am sure we will ove the resort.

Those letters don't come from the individual resorts. I love CSR (my favorite mod), but I would NEVER choose it over AKL. It's been my experience that if I "save" any money, it ends up someplace like a car repair or whatever and them I kick myself for not putting it towards something I wanted.

Those letters don't come from the resort...I'm sure when they went into the system you had a ressie at CSR and that new fancy brochure is new they don't send them out very often....I just got one for our July ressie but not the June one I had in the system earlier....

It is the luck of the draw just like post cards...

AKL is an awesome resort...If you can afford to stay there I would say don't switch...If saving that money will make a huge difference in what your able to do during your vacaiton....see if you can switch back...(the discount will probably not be available.)

I wouldn't base your decision on the package. As the others have said, I don't think those packages come directly from the resorts. In any event, I've never stayed at CSR, but I stayed at AKL last November. It is a stunning resort and the restaurants are great! Is your only concern the letter/package and the extra money, or are there other concerns? If those are the only two factors, I'd stay with AKL. Good luck....have FUN!

I just got one of those new "welcome back" letters for our July trip too. I was wondering about them because we had never gotten one before. They do a good job making you think it was from the resort though. I really thought it was from GF at first. We'll be there the middle of July and we just got the welcome back letter Friday. Is it something new? Hoping for AP rates very soon ( I can't stand all the anticipationg).

money really isn't an issue...I do eventually want to stay at CSR for the pool as DD likes to swim.
I guess I just needed reassurance that we will love AKL....now here's hoping we get a great view of the animals.

We stayed there for a week in '02; I had already booked the CBR but an annual pass discount came out for only $124 a night for a standard view so I grabbed it. Upon check-in we received a complimentary upgrade to a savannah view room and it was absolutely wonderful. You can just stay at the resort all week and be on vacation. You will not regret that extra $$ spent trust me.

I would not rethink my choice just because I didn't received a letter from them. I would stick with AKL. You won't be sorry you did. It's a beautiful resort. Enjoy it.

I think you might even save some money by staying at AKL.

We saved money at AKL by accident. We did not go to the parks as much as we normally would, or dine out as much for that matter. We ended up getting wine and snacks and take-out from Mara and spending a lot of time on our balcony. The animals usually go in mid-day, forcing us to go to the parks.

Your daughter will love the pool, too. Takes a bit of getting used to since it is not bright swimming pool blue, but a more subtle shade. You can get to one of the savannas from the pool and every time we took a break, there were new animals roaming in.

It is such a calm, relaxing resort, you'll love it! Then hopefully, from now on, you will get packages from AKL!

I have stayed at both CSR and AKL, and by far AKL is better, IMO at least, I would never switch.

CSR is a great resort. AK is one I would like to try someday and if given the chance I would. but $517 in credit also sounds good. Tough call.

I'd give the edge to AKL, but CSR ain't shabby. We enjoy both resorts

We just got back from AKL on Sunday. Go to AKL! You'll love it! The views, the restaurants, the pool! Have a great time!
