My daughter who is 2 has sever peanut allergy and we are coming to WDW in Dec...I was wondering if anyone know safe places to eat with a peanut allergy and places to avoid? I will take any suggestions snack, counter service, table service...
thanks so much...
also does anyone know the email address to the special food requests?

counter service, I don't know about.

Table service, when you make your ADRs, tell them about the peanut allergy. When you check in, tell them again -- a chef will come out and discuss what foods are available -- on the buffet, he will walk you through the entire buffet pointing out which foods are "safe".

Disney is very, very good at serving people with food allergies...they will make sure there is something good for your DD to eat.:goodvibes

My son has a tree nut allergy and Disney was wonderful when we were there in 2007. It was a while ago so I don't remember the email for food services, but if you call the number for ADRs they can help you.

They put into each of our ADRs that he had the allergy, and at each restaurant the server asked about it before we could say anything. Sometimes the chef came out to talk to us about which foods were and weren't safe. They made him something special a few times when necessary. CMs at counter service were also very good at answering questions, or the manager if CM was unsure.

All in all, they were ALL very helpful and knowledgeable!

I do remember reading that in AK they feed peanuts to many of the birds, so coming into contact with residue might be an issue if your daughter has a really severe allergy to the point that contact with a contaminated surface is a problem. Also, some stands sell the Uncrustables PB&J and people bring in their own PB crackers and sandwiches. Maybe take some disinfecting wipes to wipe down any outside tables you use.

I'll look for teh email for food services...good luck with everything!

When went in Oct and I was very nervous, our 9 y/o son has a severe peanut allergy. Everyone told us it would be fine and they were right. It was an absolute wonderful experience. We ate at Coral Reef,Ohana, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey, the place at WL, and Cosmic Rays to name a few. They were so good to my DS, I'm actually more scared now that we are back after seeing how good Disney was about everything. By the way he ate everything from steak to the buffet and your typical kid fare of burger and nuggets. Hope that helps.

I have a severe peanut allergy, only need to inhale the protein to have an anaphylactic reaction. Anyway after spending 21 nights at WDW (AKL) (so we ate at a lot of restaurants in 21 nights) last year, I have to say, that it is the best place in the whole world that I have travelled when it comes to eating! It really was a breeze and every restaurant or CS that you mention it to, is right onto it, you know some places its like "OH I don't think there are any in there". Not here. At TS, the chef will come out and either go through the menu and tell you what is safe or they will take you round the buffet and say what is ok and what is not. They will also even offer to make something if there is something on the buffet, eg waffles that is near the peanut butter pizza, they will make a fresh batch for you. Again at CS I had a chef tell me from the board/menu, what was safe and what to avoid.

Places that I was really nervous about eating at and only did so once was Boma, not breakfast, breakfast was great, but dinner. They had a peanut rice on the buffet. So whilst that was pointed out to me by the chef and avoiding the dishes either side of that, I was so nervous that one of those little grains of rice may have accidently dropped from somebodies plates into another dish. So we only had dinner there the once, but breakfast many times.
The other was Chef Mickeys, they have a peanut butter pizza on the buffet. Peanut butter makes me nervous, worse than the rice, its a finger using food, use your fingers to eat it, kids have that peanut butter traces on their finger, leave it places without realising. Anyway, it was still ok, the chef did offer to cook anything fresh like the waffles if I liked, but I just steered clear of the pizza and was fine.

After my wonderful and stress free holiday at WDW, we went to Disneyland Paris a few months later. It was a NIGHTMARE (only in the food/eating part was it a nightmare, Disneyland Paris itself was wonderful). They use peanut oil everywhere, hardly anything is safe to eat, it was really a very scary experience and every meal had me very nervous, but it really made me appreciate just how incredibly wonderful they are at WDW when it comes to allergies.

Enjoy your trip, as others have said, note it in your ADR, tell them on check in that you have the allergy in your group and they will have the chef come to your table, at CS just advise them of the allergy and they will go through what is ok and what is not. Also there is the list of safe snacks that they can email through to you or did I print that off the internet somewhere. There are quite a few peanut free snacks available, we had them at Mara (unfortunately, as i became addicted to the peanut free brownie :rotfl: couldn't stop eating them).

Have a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes

DS has severe allergies including peanuts and Disney was great at accommodating our needs and concerns. The only thing I would warn you about is that DW read the Coral Reef restaurant (which we did not eat at) gives the kids play dough which has peanut butter in it.

It's refreshing to see that they are so accommodating to people with allergies. They could be like anywhere else providing theme park/fast food, and not make any substitutions or provide any assistance, but they're not. The fact that Disney goes above and beyond, especially with regards to the restaurants, is one of the things that makes me want to keep coming back.

Disney is the BEST for food allergies. My DD15 has a milk allergy and last year at WDW - it was wonderful. Some chefs were more accommodating than others - but all came out and talked to her about the menu, what she could have and couldn't. Some went above and beyond making her special meals and dishes just like the original, but substituting rice milk or soy milk or water. She never felt uncomfortable or scared - it was a great experience.

They stopped doing this 5 or 6 years ago. One of the guide books does still mention that though.
