Not a lot of difference now between DTD and City Walk.
Examples:
Wolfgang Puck's vs Emeril's...
Planet Hollywood vs Hard Rock Cafe
Both have movie theatres.
About the only unque thing in DTD is Disney Quest and the comedy clubs.
I always kind of figured CityWalk more or less copied Disney. In addition to the above:
Beach Club v. Margaritaville (both feature live rock cover bands in a beachy atmosphere--lately, it's even been the same bands at both clubs)
Mannequins/Motion v. Groove (especially once they removed the theming and dancers from Mannequins)
Comedy Warehouse v. CityJazz (Thurs.-Sun., CityJazz is a comedy club; I'm not sure they have any jazz at all anymore, much like PI)
AC v. Pat O'Briens (the only real stretch, but both are "fun" clubs with sort of an old-time feel that stress audience participation; also, a lot of jokes are told at PO'Bs, and a lot of songs are sung at AC)
HoB v. Hard Rock Live (live music venues)
Both had magnet shops--I mean, really, shops devoted to just
magnets? Bit of a coincidence...
In any case, I think Universal realized they could have a ton of (still fairly unique) chain restaurants, but they they also need the clubs to ring pople in. Let's hope Disney does the same.
