Restroom question

Are there family type restrooms anywhere? I'm specifically wondering about restaurants. My dad is taking my semi-disabled mom in a few weeks. They're staying in WLV and not going to the parks. They are planning on going to dinners and asked for my help. I just can't remember seeing anything other than regular men's and women's restrooms. I may be wrong, but I don't think she's capable of using one by herself.

There are family restrooms through out the parks, but I've never seen one at a restaurant.

Same here. Have seen them in the parks but not in a restaurant. I would call Disney and ask. Only other option might be that when you get to the restaurant, let them know the problem and if she has to use the facilities, perhaps a CM can make sure the woman's restroom is clear and allow him to go in with her, alerting anyone who approaches of the situation.

There are quite a few family restrooms but I can't tell you if they are specifically in restaurants. You may want to post this questions on the disabilities board.

Most of the restaurants have a disabled rest room. I am disabled and need help from my wife who comes in with me. We have always both fitted in the disabled stall in restaurants even outside Disney. Or if dining in places like BOG use the park restroom before. I am sure you will have no issues. We never have!

At Chef Mickey's they had a disabled restroom upstairs in the room facing the back of the resort- I think this was because you needed to take the stairs or an elevator far away to get down to the floor below which was where the main restrooms were. I can't comment on other restaurants.

Thank you so much for the replies. I never looked for them since we never needed them. It'll be their first trip back in 4 years.

The main place we used them was in Epcot, but I also did not notice any in restaurants.

Hopefully someone will chime in, but I know I saw a map that had all the family restrooms marked. I know there are some in the parks, so maybe they can use the facilities before going into the restaurant. It's obviously difficult since they can't go into a "regular" restroom and just use the hc stall. I would call and ask if they can send you a map with the family restrooms.

I am assuming from your username you are a woman. A man can't go in the women's rest room to help his wife in the handicapped stall.

OP, I don't think any of the restaurants outside the parks have family type restrooms. I've only seen them inside the parks.

Her parents aren't going into the parks at all.

There's disability guides (aka specially marked park maps) for the main parks but I don't know how/if companion restrooms (Disney doesn't do "family" restrooms) are marked on the resort maps. Given it's a common need & WDW is very ADA friendly, I'm sure they'll be fine...worst case, they may need to ask for directions if it's not on the map but I'm sure they'll have no trouble being accommodated!

Well, he **could** - it's not really any different than the plethora of 8-12 yo boys who already cause controversy, lol...but I doubt he'd want to ;) Luckily, I'm pretty sure companion restrooms are also at the resorts (at least in the main buildings) even if they're not marked on the maps.

Can't find anything right now besides transgender stuff regarding laws about bathroom use, but I would think a man, representing himself as male, would have no place in a women's bathroom and there would be laws about it.

Afaik, the recent stuff is the first time it's ever been actually brought before the courts - it was pretty "don't ask, don't tell" before all that...

They've got a good listing of the parks ones but I only saw Poly & one other resort listed even though I've seen/used them at several of the other resorts.
