Cindy F,

I know you don't know me, but I am a member of the Trailer Life Forums. I posted a message about restoring an old pop up and someone over there ran across a post on here that you did the same thing. I like how your pop up turned out. I am thinking about buying an older (late 70's, 80's), and restoring it. I read in your post that you purchased yours for $750 and "disney-fied" it. It looks really nice. If you don't mind me asking, what type of material did you use to re-cover the mattresses & dining cushions? I found one on craigslist in my area for 750, but it doesn't come with A/C, the canvas has been patched, & the mattresses, dining cushions, & curtains need to be redone.

Thanks,

Wow! What a compliment this is, especially for someone who feels they can barely match their own clothing let alone decorate something!

I'll give you the info for the original decor change and then for the Disney stuff.

Cindy - hope you don't mind but I'm the one who linked your thread over at the rv.net forums. I was very impressed by how nice your PUP came out, and glad you can now inspire someone else to enjoy the RV lifestyle!

Cindy,
You did an awesome job on restoring that pop-up. It really looks great and can't think of a better theme then Disney:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 You are definitely talented.

Absolutely not! You can feel free to post stuff about our camper anywhere you think it might help someone! We really had fun fixing up the camper, decorating, painting, etc.
I wish I had tried this so much sooner when the girls were much younger, think of all the memories we could have made by now! I hope someone learns from my mistake, makes the jump, gets a little fixer upper pop up, and have as much fun as we have had!

Thanks Becky! I have never been a "crafty" person but I thought it turned out pretty good and it's always nice to hear compliments! :thumbsup2

cindyf do you have before pics? you pop up came with a shower? or did you add that?

my neighbor has a pop up she has offered to us, but i have been afraid of the work that it would need. hmm, you have me really thinking now.

Cindyf,

How old are your children? My oldest daughter is 10, youngest daughter will be 9 in July, and son is 5. I wish I would have bought a used pop-up while the kids were younger. My wife and I usually got money back from taxes and most had to be used to pay the credit cards off. Now, we are talking about finding a good one that doesn't need much work, as the brand new ones are so expensive. I am a pretty handy person and am up for a challenge of restoring one. I'd like to find one that the canvas isn't all torn or in that bad of shape, so we could at least use it without having to fork over $900 for a new canvas. Some people still believe canvas for Pop-ups are $400, but I have never seen them that low. Would also like for it to have A/C.

Thanks,

Chris

i am not a patient person, so i jumped over to trailer life and found the post. lol i saw your thread and the blog pics. i am a member over there as well! small world.

great job!

yes she was offering for free.

Cindy,

What did you do as far as an A/C goes? Did you buy some Reflectix? I saw where some people were taking the window A/C units and cutting out a hole either in the front or rear of the pop up and mounting it there. Is that what you ended up doing? I have also heard of people buying A/C for RV's off of Ebay for like $250 and installing them. Some cut a new hole in the roof, while others remove the plastic roll-vent from the top and use that existing opening to add one.

Thanks,

Chris

Wow Cindy, your camper looks fantastic! I think you may be inspiring me to Disney mine up a bit! :mickeyjum

Thanks Pixie!

It was super easy! Some Family Dollar towels, Wal Mart sheets, and ebay Mickey Mouse iron onslike these, and it was a snap!

Good luck on your Disney-fication, I'm sure you'll enjoy doing it as much as I did!

What the heck?????
