I am still trying to convince DH to go to HHN. Are there smoking areas? (He doesn't smoke in line) He doesn't get scared, but he does not like people in his personal space for extended periods of time. Are there any areas where he can chill for a bit, smoke and drink a blood bag without being hassled?

There should be some "safe zones" in between scare zones, or you could slip into one of the restaurants or something. And I saw on the map on the HHN website that there are designated smoking areas. :teeth:

There are designated smoking areas throughout and are located on the park map.

I'm glad he's polite enough not to smoke in line. Technically it's forbidden, but once again this year the in-line smokers were rampant. One of my HHN pet peeves because nothing triggers my sinuses to open up the flood gates faster than close proximity to smoke.

Many of the Uni smoking areas are off the beaten path and look like they'd be a nice, quiet place for rest time.

Yes, technically it's forbidden but realistically there is nothing they can do to stop it, too many smokers and not enough people to watch them. To me a place that cramps your personal space is something like a mosh pit at a concert where people are packed all around you. These are just lines, I don't see how anybody would have a problem unless someone tries to cut in front of you.

Niki... I noticed you were going the same night I am, 10/29. A friend of mine, her DS & his girlfriend have decided to go that night too. My friend isn't a big HHN fan at all (only going because I talked her into trying it). In fact, she is a bit afraid and is looking for a "quiet" place to sit while the rest of us do houses. She is also a smoker. If you talk your DH into going, he will have someone to hang with and smoke.. we can do the houses together :thumbsup2

PM if you decide you might want to meet up and do that. My group will be me, DD-17, maybe DD-21 (still not sure if she can get her shifts at work covered). My friend, her DS-24 & his girlfriend-22. Another one of my friends DD-23 might go too (if she can take off from work). So even though after my name of the list only lists 3, there will be more :thumbsup2

I wish there was something that could be done to the inline smokers. :headache: It just isn't fair to everyone else on that line.. My Mom died nearly a year ago from Lung Cancer and the one thing I do not like is smoke being blown in my face...

Make sure to let your feelings be known to Guest Services (I most certainly do). Already this year I have seen TMs letting people into lines with lit cigarettes; there is no excuse for that. I have also seen TMs and security guards walk right past smokers without a word. I know they can't be everywhere every minute, but they should most certainly address problems when they are right in front of their nose. I don't mind telling the smokers to put 'em out myself, and some are very polite about it. Problem is, others are drunk and get downright nasty and abusive when asked...I had some cursing and saying nasty things about me for the whole rest of one line last year. I was waiting for them to say something to me directly as I would have had security on 'em in a minute, but they just kept saying everything between themselves...loud enough for me to hear. I shouldn't have to feel threatened by asking someone to stop doing something that is against the rules and is triggering my condition. I'll stop my rant now, but that is truly one of my biggest pet peeves at HHN.

I dislike that worse than line jumpers :headache: I agree with you, that is my biggest pet peeve in Universal and Disney (and yeah, it does happen there but not as much...) I usually don't say anything during HHN because most of the time the smoker is drunk as you have stated.. and nothing worse than trying to explain something to a nasty know it all drunk... but this year, I may just flag down a TM if one is walking by while there is smoke going in my face... My DH smokes and I have nothing against someone who wants to smoke, I just have something against those who feel they have the right to give you lung cancer without your permission....

Had one 2nite walk right by entrance TM at house. Would have been right in front of me in line but I asked TM "Uh isn't that forbidden." He tried to call them back and was ignored so loudmouth me called and made sure they heard. They had an attitude 4 the best of the line but at least I didn't have to breathe the smoke.

Opening night they were telling people to put them out in lines. But only A few get caught while the rest hide it enough not to.There is plenty of smoking area's but not many use them.I guess they think since its dark out they wont see them. I'm A smoker and think of others also..

Our favorite place is in the New York area, in front of the Fast and Furious cars, we sit on the stoop in the doorway and chill out with a beer. I don't think you can smoke there tho. But its a great place to relax and people watch with a drink. popcorn::

I have to give Uni kudos for the last 2 nights. They have actually been monitoring the lines closely which has drastically cut down on in line smoking. Granted they still smoke everywhere else but at least its a start.
