"Resting ideas needed.....more

OK, the countdown is on. We are leaving on the 9th and staying until the 17th. We will be staying offsite (The Liki Tiki) so driving back to the resort for a rest will be ok sometimes...BUT I was wondering if anyone had a particular "rest" spot in the parks for a quiet break? My DD is 2 and I'd like to have a back-up plan in case there is a day we don't head back to the resort.

Love to hit universe of Energy, Spaceship Earth or The American Adventure in Epcot. All are long, air-conditioned, and I've had little ones rest quite nicely in all three.

I hear ya! During our last two trips, our kids were 15 months and 7 years old in 2001 and 2 years old and 8 years old for 2002 trip.

In MK, we found a nice little path that runs behind the raceway between Toontown and Tomorrowland. Nearer to Toontown it's quiet and empty. Closer to Tomorrowland it's noisy. My kids loved resting there.

On Main Street USA about half way down on the right side is a little side street. We have never seen anyone there. There are tables and chairs and fun things to look at! LOOK UP!

At Epcot, ds and I rested under the monorail track near the Horizons bldg. I fed him dinner while dd and dh saw the Bill Nye movie. After our long rest, he played in the near by water splash area.

I get migraines, and sometimes I need a cool place to lie down in a hurry. I've found that one of the best spots to do that is at MK; the outer lobby of Hall of Presidents. The outer doors are always open, and since the show isn't that popular anymore, usually there is plenty of room to sit on the floor near the wall and relax.

when my kids were under 3 it was no use going back to the room. They weren't going to sleep. If we were in Epcot or MK, we find our lifesaver:
THE MONORAIL BETWEEN EPCOT AND MK.
My DH and I would bring books with us, and we'd camp out in the monorail for a couple of round trips. We always had the car to ourselves. The motion put the kids to sleep and they could snag a hour hour nap.

When I need a rest I go on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (or peoplemover to us old folks). You can stay on as long as you like, just don't get off at the end. Last time we stayed on it for 5 times around. Very relaxing, cooling and peaceful.

I also agree that the best place in the Magic Kingdom to rest a little is the Tommorrowland Transit Authority (WEDway Peoplemover.) Just stay on as long as you need.

My kids are car seat nappers. Won't sleep on a bed, but put them on a moving vehicle and "zzzzzzzzz."

We slept on the boat between MK and WL (very noisy, we were staying at WL and tried to get them back to bed in the room - a mistake). The train in the MK (lovely ride around the park). The buses from the AK to the resort (ride the loop about three times for an hour long nap). We didn't try the monorail, but it would be a wonderful airconditioned spot!

Don't forget about the Tiki Room! Also, getting a seat on the river boat in MK is very nice. The train is also very relaxing, but when the kids were small, they found too much to see and never did go to sleep!!

We always like to duck into the movie arcade for some down time....it's cool and (relatively) quiet and largely deserted.....a great place for the stroller crowd!! If you have children like mine who became so over-stimulated that even eating was impossible, you might want to check out the baby centers, they proved invaluable to us many times over during our vacations.

They let you stay on the TTA!! I have never had them let me do that! I guess I will try it this trip... it's sooo relaxing!

There are always the Baby Centers also. I took my then 2 year old DD to the one in Epcot when she really needed a nap and she napped there for over an hour and I vegged there with her and my DH and older DD did stuff and then we got back together when the younger DD woke up and was ready to go.

A great place to unwind is at MK. There is a covered section at the bottom of the Rose Garden that has benches and overlooks the water. The kids can look at the water or the roses or nap while you relax and take in the view. We love this place.

I echo the Baby Centers--not many know about them; and it's a great place for a nap.

Yes, you can stay on as long as you like. When you get back to the loading platform, just stay seated. The CM will just close your door and you are off again.
