So with temps in the 90's, where's a good spot to take a mid-day rest & recuperation break in the park? I don't want to go back to the hotel, but a nice shady spot to have the kids sit for a while might be nice....

We tend to find air conditioned spots, as for us getting out of the humidity is as important as getting out of the sun/heat. Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, and Country Bear Jamboree all have worked for us.

Grab a drink and sit down at a counter service, usually plenty of seats mid afternoon so you aren't taking somebody's lunch spot.

Ride the train around.

Head over to Tom Sawyers Island.

Take the monorail to Contemporary and have lunch at their Cafe.

It's a great break for kids (gets them out if the park). And if you have a stroller you don't need to fold in the monorail.

We go in August and the indoor A/C attractions already listed are one of go to cool down places. We also do a lot of ADRs so we get built in rest/cool down time while we get our meal (2 birds/1 stone).

There are some nice shady benches by SHR Treehouse in Adventureland, also in the hub either one side or the other tends to be shady.

I second Philharmagic and Carousel of Progress. I have also been known to monorail over to the Contemporary and find a few nice comfy chairs and get drinks in our refillable mugs. I also forgot to add taking a boat ride to grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge or Contemporary. The seats aren't terribly comfortable but if you like the water it's a nice ride, just stay on and head back to the MK.

Yeah, those tall wooden construction walls sure do throw a lot of shade. Unfortunately there aren't any benches in front of the walls.

I agree with the PPs- it's not just the heat, its the humidity that beats me down. And maybe it's me, but I find it hard to find a good breeze (maybe because of the crowds?) except on the People Mover or the train where you kind of make your own breeze. Head inside and soak up the air conditioning at a longish show or attraction, have a leisurely lunch inside one of the restaurants.

And speaking of longish attractions, I guess you could add the Enchanted Tiki Room to the list.

I like upstairs at the Columbia Harbor House if you want some quiet and air conditioning without leaving MK.

Nobody has mentioned one of my favorites...the Peoplemover!!

Edited - oops, yes they did, they just called it by its official name, TTA!
