note that the special menu is not listed, but hopefully that will come

Hi,

I booked the Captain's Grille for Thanksgiving dinner in August. When I called I was told they had a buffet with traditional foods last year and would have one this year. Wdwinfo.com listed the restaurants that are having special dinners for Thanksgiving and Captain's Grille was not listed. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the Captain's Grille is having a buffet with traditional foods for Thanksgiving or is it a sit down? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I know, Pooh! I booked it as well, but it's not listed on wdwinfo, and is no longer there for even having Thanksgiving last year. The fact that you remember this too makes me think that *maybe* I'm not crazy and seeing things that aren't there. I stressed all morning about it, trying to find another ressie for Thanksgiving Day and ended up booking one at Shutters, which is at our resort anyway. I cancelled Captain's Grille. Maybe wdwinfo is wrong and they do have traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but I don't know! Shutters is more convenient for our group, so I'm still happy with my decision. I'm sorry! I don't know what to tell you.

Okay, funny thing. This afternoon Captain's Grille called our home phone to confirm our thanksgiving ressie and they said that they DO have a thanksgiving buffet. Hopefully they'll be calling you soon and you'll get your questions answered. I'm still happy that I switched, but just because it'll make a more relaxing day for us at our resort. Have a great trip!!

We have a "lunch" reservation for Boma for 2:40 Thanksgiving Day yet the info under the link says Boma is "dinner only". Wonder if that means the Thanksgiving dinner option is only for dinner? I would hope this is an oversight b/c we hoped to have some turkey on Thanksgiving. Maybe it means that typically Boma only serves dinner?

We have an 11:50 at the Captain's Grille. They left me a message yesterday that said they would have turkey on the menu but it doesn't seem like they are going to have the same buffet as last year. I'm wondering if I should try to change it.....

they did say they were having the buffet? they left me a message and said there would be turkey but didn't mention the buffet. I am trying to decide what to do as well. If we're just going to have a regular meal I'm thinking we'll eat somewhere more convenient as well.

If you call Disney Dining they do have the menus there and can read them to you. I have not seen any of the menus for this year but do have one from last year from WCC... click on it to make it bigger.

To be honest I didn't pay that much attention because I had just canceled it. I know they left the restaurant's number for me to call back. I would give them a call back and ask about the specifics of the dinner, then make your decision. Sorry I can't be more helpful! We were going to have our Thanksgiving dinners start at the exact same time before, though!

Also, it was pretty difficult to find anything else. I called WDW-DINE, gave up trying to find anything with the CM, and then searched online for a long time. I was super blessed to find a Thanksgiving meal at our resort, because most everything I was finding was the ethnic restaurants at Epcot (definitely non-Thanksgiving). Knowing that Captain's Grille actually has a turkey option, I probably could've kept my ressie and been happy. It was pretty stressful trying to find something else yesterday! GL!

If you call Disney Dining they do have the menus there and can read them to you. I have not seen any of the menus for this year but do have one from last year from WCC... click on it to make it bigger.

Does anyone know if this menu is also used at Christmas? We are there for Christmas Day dinner - thanks for posting this!

I called earlier today and talked to a CM at the Yacht Club but she wasn't super helpful. She found the menu and it did say buffet on it but then it said regular menu with holiday offerings. Dining was down until after 10 am and I didn't get a chance to call back to see what they had to say.

Does anyone know if this menu is also used at Christmas? We are there for Christmas Day dinner - thanks for posting this!

It was very similar last year for Christmas. THe special skillet was all that was offered. It had Turkey, roast pork, roast chicken and brisket. For sides mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and cranberry relish. The salad was the same and corn bread. For dessert it was a yule log.
