My hubby and prefer to eat meals at the bar vice a table whenever possible. We usually share food and don't like to take up an entire table if planning to do so, so we don't take a table away from the server. Does anyone know if most of the upper end restaurants at Disney have bars where you can order dinner? We're considering the likes of California Grill, Chefs de France, Citricos, & Le Cellier to name a few.

Citricos has counter seating but I don't think it's really a "bar" in that you will still have a server.

I think I remember seeing counter top service at Flying Fish.

Although not nearly as good as any of the restaurants previously mentioned, you can sit at the bar at Ragland Road in DTD.

We like to eat at the bar, too, but just because of the atmosphere & because we can be more spontaneous that way. We also share food, so we can sample more courses. This has never been a problem at any of the WDW restaurants, more often than not, they will split the plates for us. So if you are interested in eating at a particular place that doesn't have a bar, don't be concerned about that.

That said, The Bar at the Wave is wonderful. We also like the bars at Flying Fish, Il Mulino & BlueZoo. Tambu Lounge, the bar at the Poly, has a limited menu. Crew's Cup Lounge has a nice menu from Yachtsman Steakhouse. Territory Lounge, the bar outside Artist Point in WL, is very nice too.

You can't always get up to the bar at California Grill. If it's too busy, they won't let you up. We have never eaten at the bar there, but have seen people doing so.

I have eaten at the Ca. Grill bar on several occasions but I always get there when they open. I haven't tried to get in later, but your luck will likely decline the closer you are to time for the MK fireworks.

We had the same questions about restaurants with bar seating.

It's never occurred to us that they would have open seating at the bars at really busy places like California Grill. Are they entirely open seating, and you can order food at them?

We found that when we tried to get appetizers in the lounge area at Jiko, they would only serve you if you could get a seat specifically AT the bar.

Wow thanks for the excellent information, this will be very helpful!

Yes, you can order the full menu at California Grill's lounge. I plan to go Sunday.

I think Jiko prefers to use the tables in the lounge either for seating for those waiting for their ADR, or for overflow tables for the regular restaurant. I have been there before when they would allow guests to sit there and order appetizers from the bartenders, but I have also been there when they were using them as overflow restaurant tables.

We have been served full menu in bar seating area of Jiko...maybe it depends on how busy they are or who the bartender is.

You can eat at the actual bar at Citrico's--we do it every time we go. And in addition to the other spots already mentioned you can eat at the bar at Shula's.
Our other "eating at the bar" favorites are Blue Zoo and Flying Fish. We always eat at the bar at California Grill, but just getting a seat (or rather, 2 seats!) is tough anywhere near fireworks time.
