restaurants where the tables are somewhat spread out

The Wave felt very open to me for a non-signature restaurant.

Le Cellier is really bad. I can't blame them for cramming all those tables in there, though. They will fill (and turn a profit on) those seats. San Angel is bad, too. (But happily you don't really see your neighbor being so close because of the "mood lighting". You just feel them breathing down your neck.

I actually thought Tutto Italia's seating was pretty good...

We LOVE Jiko - but as a couple we have been seated at one of those tables where the table for two is only about 3 inches from the next table for two. Not all that comfy really

We had a great deal of room while dining at Tokyo Dining. It was very nice actually.

Also, the others that we felt were roomy were Jiko, Nacroossee's & Ragland Road

It can also depend on where you get seated. We ended up really tight in the back of Flying Fish once, but another table closer to to the door felt like there was plenty of room. We ended up in a side room at Jiko that was sparse, but other tables are cramped.

I feel compelled to post again: I'm really surprised at the suggestions for Kona and Jiko! At Jiko at a two top, my friend and I were almost on top of the table next to us. She took the booth seat because she's skinnier than me and it was easier for her to get into it! (And I'm not a big girl!)

At Kona we had a conversation with the family next to us because we were that close. They do have booths at Kona, perhaps that would help?? But in a standard two top, they're right next to each other!

I'm similarly not a fan of sitting that close to others.

We were two dining together and these are restos where I remember being fairly comfortable:
Kona
Wave
Ohana (but loud)
Yak And Yeti
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Cali Grill (but loud)
Citricos

But these were definitely not:
Teppan Edo
San Angel
Biergarten
Sci Fi (other folks in car with us)
50's Prime Time
Liberty Tree Tavern (not that bad)

I'd say Kona, Liberty Tree Tavern and Whispering Canyon Cafe from my list are hit and miss. I'm really just reporting my experience. My memory for actual layout is poor. Possibly there was nobody occupying the seats rights around us.

Come to think of it, booking ADRS at unconventional times will probably serve you just as well as restaurant selection.

I guess I don't mind sitting close if there is a great mushroom filet in my plate like at Le Cellier where tables are very close. I don't mind San Angle it is dark so that make up for alot. Chef de France, Coral Reef and Rose and Crown seem to have plenty of room between tables (for Disney that is).

I think both the Grand Floridian Cafe and Tutto Italia were pretty good, as far as space goes. At the Kona Cafe it would depend. The seperate tables are good, but if you get seated where you have a table with chairs on one side and a bench of the other, those are pretty close. The bench part is shared by a bunch of tables.

I was pleasantly suprised at how much we all enjoyed the Grand Floridian Cafe. The wait staff was very attentive, and the food was very good.

I think the worst table-crowded wise, we've been to is Le Cellier. Not only were the tables jammed together, but the tables for two are dinky. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, but there was barely room for our food and appitizers.

On the other hand...the most roomy has been the Yachtsman Steakhouse. It was also IMO the quietest, and the food was fantastic.
