We are taking our 4 1/2 yr old DS to Disney for the first time in June. What are some "must go to" restaurants that are entertaining to kids but the food is good as well?

Our kids favourites were:

Cinderella's Royal Table
Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace

All good character interactions and the foor ranged from good (CM) to great (CRT)

Enjoy!

we did the breakfast last week at the crystal palace and it was great. try to get an 8 or 8:15 am ressie so you can get in the park before it opens and get some awesome pictures of everything with out the crowds. not to mention the food was hot and everything was well stocked because it was the first meals of the day.

we also did the prime time cafe and my boys {15 & 17} just loved it. i didn't tell them anything about it before we went and they had a ball with the waitress. even my hubby said it was the best.

Donald's Breakfast Safari at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom is good for boys. My DS also likes Sci Fi Dine In, though we loved it, it does get mixed reviews. Pizza Planet is a counter service in Hollywood Studios themed after Toy Story. The pizza is ok but this is DS's fave restaurant.

Have a dd the same age. We have take her several times. Skipping all the Princess meals as I don't think your DS would enjoy them as much as my DD :rotfl:, below are some places suggestions:

-Chef Mickeys - To us, it is not a trip with going here. Nothing beats comtemporary and Characters!
-Ohana - Dinner has coconut races, hula dancing for kids and music. Plus food is really good
-Crystal Palace - Pooh characters and food is good.
-Beirgarten - Fun german music. Kids can dance. Fun for the whole family.
-Coral Reef - Actually haven't been to this with DD because she wouldn't want any of the food choices but they have huge aquarium in dining room.
-Planet Holywood - Loud and food is what you would expect but lots to look at.
-T-Rex & Rainforest Cafe - Been to RFC but not TREX. Again typical fare but lots' to keep them interested. Unless your child is like mine and then the shrieking monkey's will freak him out :rotfl:
-Raglan Road - Fun, irish music and fare

You can take your child anywhere except V&A. I would suggestion looking at menu's and find a place that has something he will eat. We have a picky eater than that is the only thing that keeps us from trying some of the other places we would have liked.

Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club has a really good character breakfast too.

At Ohana, we found the character interaction at breakfast to be good, but the food just so so.

We liked Crystal Palace better, and that, as a PP mentioned, has the added plus of letting you into the park early if you go for breakfast.

We did the same thing at Tusker House in AK, and the food there was good, too...had a little different selection than your usual breakfast buffet. Plus the characters.

Chef Mickeys also has good interaction (sometimes rushed, but they did come by many times during the course of our meal), but the food was the usual buffet kind of stuff.

Our kids (6 and 4) really like the food at Boma, in AKL.... the restaurant itself doesn't have characters, but the hotel is gorgeous and fun to walk around (can look at the animals, and at night they have a fun parade through the lobby and stories by the fire).

we did not like Prime Time cafe. The food wasn't good, and the jokes and references were way over our toddlers' heads. My in-laws took the kids to Hollywood and Vine and said they liked it alot and ate really well there....

Ours and our kids favorites
1.Crystal Palace (Pooh, Piglet...) We like it for dinner and lunch. Not breakfast people.
2. Chef Mickey's for dinner.
3.'Ohana for dinner. The food is great! Kids can order chicken nuggets.... other foods if they don't care for it. There are coconut races, hula lessons... while eatting. Fun and good!
Kids liked Coral Reef and Whispering Canyon just not as much as the ones above and we didn't care for the food as much either.
