Restaurants to try in Aug 2003

I'm going on my 2nd trip to WDW with my best friend and my parents in Aug 2003. Unfortunately the first trip was only 2 days @ Disney and 5 in Fort Myers (still great fun) This time the trip is totally Disney!! We will be staying at CSR from Aug 11th to the 18th (Anyone else going then?) My friend and I will be 18 and spending time in the parks with and without my parents. It is always my job to figure out which restaurants our family will eat at while at Disney. So here's the list I hope to try when going in August

MK
- Crystal Palace Breakfast (best friend LOVES winnie the pooh )
- Columbia Harbour House (tradition!)

Epcot
- The Sunshine Season Food Fair
- San Angel Inn
- Chefs du France
- Le Cellier (come on I'm Canadian AND I haven't been there since WAY before it was redone, anyone remember when it was cafeteria style? That was the last time I was there! LOL)

MGM
- ABC Commisary
- Hollywood & Vine
- 50's Prime Time
- Sci Fi
- Brown Derby

AK
- Rainforest Cafe
- Flame Tree BBQ (tradition! & love the seating area!)
- Tusker House

DTD
- Wolfgang Puck Cafe (tradition for first night there)
- Cheesecake Factory @ DQ

Elsewhere
- O'hana (I've heard great things about it!)

So obviously we're not going to hit ALL of these but I would love to hear other suggestions or reviews of any of these restaurants!

Personally love Sci - Fi Dine In Theater and was rather surprised how good the Cheesecake Factory @ DQ was.

Biergarten is another favorite....

Some good spots--but did you overlook the Maya Grill?? Right where you'll be staying. I haven't been since their menu change a few years back, so I can't give you a personal review--.

Sounds like you have quite a bit of good eating happening while you are there! Enjoy!

Out of your list, my personal favorites are:
San Angel Inn' (lunch is less expensive, and a good way to get out of the hot August sun)
Le Cellier--- ( lunch or dinner...love that cheddar cheese soup!)
50's Prime Time (my ultimate favorite)
Hollywood and Vine (character lunch only--- don't like the breakfast, and dinner doesn't have the characters, and they are great here!)
Brown Derby (lunch--- we usually try to get 1st seating)
Tusker House (love the balsalmic vinegrette chicken salad, and their rotisserie chicken is wonderful, as well. The portions are huge.)
Flametree BBQ---( food is good, and we love the seating down by the Discovery River)
'Ohana---( great food, lots of fun!)

Pretty ambitious list, Tinkerbelle! We're going in September and have our list 90-percent complete already! How about Liberty Tree Tavern.....a family favorite of ours. We also found Biergarten fun and delicious.
Tell me about Columbia Harbour House....know nothing about it.

Here are DH & I's favorites of the restaurants we've tried so far:

Magic Kingdom:

Cinderella's Royal Table: For lunch
If you go here for lunch it is more on the affordable side and has a great menu....and yummy desserts. Also, if you get one of the first PS's you will likely get a window seat overlooking Fantasyland.

The Plaza Restaurant:
This was a small, quieter retreat on the end of Main Street that we enjoyed. The menu wasn't anthing fabulous, but it was a nice escape from the hustle and the crowds in the park

The Liberty tree Tavern: Character meal supper
Great food, great atmosphere and a nice way to see some of the classic characters without waiting in lines!



Epcot:

San Angel Inn: For Lunch
We really liked the food here and the atmosphere can't be beat. Try to schedule an early PS to get a seat along the "river".

Le cellier Steakhouse: For lunch
Cheese Soup, Pretzel bread......nothing more to say

The Garden Grille: Character Meal for lunch
Great preplated meal with characters, neat view of "living wiht the land ride".


Don't have any real standouts that we've tried at MGM or AK, so far.....always a reason to go back and try others!


Boardwalk Spoodles:
We ate here for supper and loved it. Great menu.....relaxing break from the parks


AKL Boma:
For supper. YUM YUM YUM!

Polynesian O' hana's
We ate here for supper and got a window seat with a view of the castle. The food was fabulous and very filling and it was just an all around fun atmosphere.

Old Key West Olivias
We like to eat here for lunch on the day we arrive. It's a nice, small retreat, with fabulous food.

You must try Boma!!! OUr personal favorite along with Teppanyaki Tables!!

As for the question about Columbia Harbour, i've been going there since i was a really little kid. The menu has changed a few times but i still love the food. Its in Liberty Square across from the HM and features chicken fingers, fish fingers, clam chowder in a bread bowl and an assortment of sandwhiches, definatelyt a good place. The other cool thing about this restaurant is that there are all sorts of little room decorated in a nautical theme.

Thanks for the note on Columbia Harbour House...I think we'll try it...sounds good for the kids.
But I'm still trying to picture it. You said right across from Haunted Mansion. If I stepped outside of Liberty Tree, would I turn to the right? Is it in that strip of stores kind of on the corner?

My favorites are:
1)Plaza restaurant for Lunch, the best salad with strawberrys and chicken. Very large. My kids like that you get mini hot dogs or burgers and mix or match as well.
2)Yacht club galley, great dinner place and the best filet mignon I have ever had.
3) Olivia's at the Old Key West resort
4) Prime Time Cafe-Lots of fun
5) The kids also love ESPN at the Boardwalk
6) our favorite buffet is chef Mickey

You may want to check on the renovation of the Crystal Palace. We were there this past July and was due for complete renovation. In any case, it was one of the best character breakfasts we had. We saw Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Even my wife was thrilled! The food was also great! Le Celier - small and cozy place. Make sure you make reservations well in advance. Its worth the wait!
