Whispering Canyon was terrible the last time we dined there.

I had enjoyed it as a 2nd grader, probably just because of the atmosphere and endless milkshakes, but now as a teenager, I have truly experienced the restaurant for what it is. The dining area is crowded and excessively loud. The wait staff is inattentive. And the food is subpar.

Don't waste your time here unless you have really little children how would like it.

I assume you are refering to Fultons. We have been going there for years, ever since it was Empress Lilly. We belong to the Levy's dining club, which is a really good deal. If you eat at Fultons or Portobellos on a regular basis, you accumulate cash savings that add up pretty quickly. We have taken 6 friends and paid only $50 for the meal because of our points. It's actually amazing how quickly these popints build up when you eat there regularly. Rarely had any problems there, after all these years. Their biggest problem is every so often, it takes a long time to get the check. If it appears that this is happening, we just tell the server that we are in a rush, and need to get out quickly.
One of the best dishes there is the Crab and Lobster Bisque. We have it every single time we dine there.

I didn't like Liberty Tree Tavern or Boatwright's but I wouldn't say I'd never go back. I might return at a different time of day/night or try another dish. I don't think I've ever had a truly BAD experience...and the good'uns far outweigh the bad'uns.

Mama Melrose is the only good food at DHS

I had the wood-fired tuna at Mama Melrose for lunch. Came just "seared"--too rare for me. I asked them to cook it more. They did, and it was a FABULOUS meal. I would recommend it to anyone. I asked them to cook the tuna more at Sunshine Seasons, and they wouldn't. The chef said it was sushi grade tuna (as was the tuna at Mama Melrose), and he would not cook it more. Too bad.

We had no bad meals on our last trip, granted that was 2003. I'm with the group that doesn't really have high expectations, so I'm pleased most of the time.

When we went in March, Grand Floridian Cafe was horrible. The food and service were bad and the Maya Grill needs some better quality of beef. The steaks we each ordered were so tough - our second time. But we did have good service each time.

We were very disappointed in 50's Prime Time. The food was good for the most part. They now use a milkshake mix and not the old fashion syrup and icecream. The last two times the interaction was very poor. It was pretty much . . . "Get you elbows off the table and eat your vegetables." We are not going back this September. The interaction at Whispering Canyon was outstanding. We have had sooo much fun every time. My teenage grandson did not say please when asking for a lemonade . . . He received a glass of ice and a bowl of lemons and was told to make his own! You are not going to get the best food at these type of places . . it is the atmosphere, the staff and your readiness to have a great experience!

1900 Park Fare

Food was cold and tasted bad.
Service was practically non-existent (Our waitress brought us our drinks, and our bill - that was IT - plates stacked up, no refills... ugh).
Characters were totally lacking in personality.
Decor and crowded, noisy atmosphere was nauseating.

We will NOT be back. We also had a really yuck breakfast at 'Ohana, but are trying dinner this time in the interest of fairness, since we're pretty sure we had the LAST breakfast seating, so the food may have been dregs. We truly enjoyed LTT several years ago, a few years ago it was just "eh" and now we probably won't go back mainly because the real draw was always the characters.

Donald's Safari Breakfast in AK at The Tusker House.... ate there in Aug 08. Long wait (early ADR) poor character interaction and I got so sick after eating there I had to go back to the room and missed an entire day... DH ended up at the pool with the kids, and they at least had a blast. I was the only one of us to eat the corned beef hash caserole dish (to this day I can't even think about corned beef without feeling sick.... I vomitted for hours and it wasn't until 10pm that I could tolerate sips of flat coke). I was ok the next day... didn't feel well enough to do any of the big rides in MK, but at least I made it into the park. Since no one else in my family got sick I assume it was food poisoning and I think it turned me off of that restaurant and corned beef hash forever.

One positive note... not eating for one whole day and just nibbling the next saved me from my inevitable vacation weight gain.... silver lining to that cloud?!?!?!

Nine Dragons in China at Epcot. We went on our honeymoon in 2003 and LOVED the food. We went back with our family in 2004 and, needless to say, we never went back. The food has gone down hill. No wonder the place is always empty

I have been eating many years at WDW. IMO the DDP ruined the menus!
Over the years they have been dumbing down the menus until very little is left

While there was nothing wrong with the service, food or character interaction, we will be skipping the Garden Grill in the future. It wasn't anything special to us and everything was just "average". I found it rather boring... oh look, there goes the roof of that tiny house again...

We prefer more of a "ruckus" type environment for our character meals, i.e. Chef Mickey's napkin parade, HDDR, 50's PT, etc. We don't go to WDW for fine dining, we go for the kids to have unforgettable dining experiences with their favorite friends. We're happy as long as the food is edible, traditional (picky DH), and Mom and Dad can sit and eat something other than a granola bar for a few minutes.

I agree with most of the pp's comments regarding the dining plan. It just doesn't work for us so we never get it, but I do think it's ruined the restaurants. Prior to the dining plan, my BFF and I traveled to DW more times than I can count and had great meals. After I was married, I took my DH to the World for his first extended visit since he was a kid and had great meals in Norway (loved loved loved the buffet, DH eats all that stuff and I like the majority of the things they offered) and Le Cellier. We went back after the dining plan with no pre-arranged ressies and couldn't get in anywhere without some finagaling from the CM at the concierge at our hotel. She told us that Norway was now princess dining, it wasn't very popular, so throw the princess' in and change the menu and wahla..it's now popular. We decided to make a ressie and made a meal out of the cold buffet since we like all that food. Told the waitress we'd pass on the entree. She looked like a deer in the headlights. She couldn't understand why we didn't want an entree. The next thing we know, here comes the Manager asking us if there was a problem. We explained to him that we were there prior to the change and just preferred to eat off the buffet. He then told us he would have to charge us full price. We said, fine, we understand that. We won't be going back there, don't like the menu now and obviously not concerned with the princess'. (And what's up with Alice?? I don't remember her being a princess!) On that trip, it was mine and DH's first meal together at Le Cellier and had a fabulous meal. This last October, not so much. The only ressie I could get was on Halloween at 4:30 pm. Way too early for us but we had a great meal there before and DH wanted to eat there again. Dinner literally took less than an hour. We were hearded in, rushed, had bad service and the food wasn't that great. Appetizer and entree came out on top of one another and my prime rib was raw and had to argue with the snooty waiter who thought he knew more than me to take it back. I didn't complain to management although I should have, it was one of those things you think of afterwards. Although it didn't ruin our vacation, you still expect more when you are paying these prices. We don't go to WDW for the food, but you do expect better sometimes. Some people have slammed the Rose and Crown. We couldn't get in there on our last trip and I made ressies this time, and it was one of our best meals that whole week. I guess it is all a matter of opinion, we will give other places that have gotten not so good reviews a try for ourselves, but I do think the dining plan has "dummed" things down. I realize WDW is a business and they are trying to survive like the rest of us but it's like a wedding, the one thing you never skrimp on is food, it's the only thing people ever remember!

I didn't care for Yak and Yeti at the Animal Kingdom. The appetizer was good (fried green beans) as was the dessert (fried wontons), but the entree was terrible. My girls thought is was okay, but nothing special.

We also didn't care for Morocco (can't remember the name.) We ate there in 2007 and won't be back.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at 1900 Park Fare. That is actually a family favorite (50's PT is our number one restaurant). But we hade a bad experience at Coral Reef and I have heard lots of people saying that they love it. I think a lot of it depends on who is cooking the food and who the characters "are".

Mickey2000 I could not agree with you more. The menus especially in the resorts are generic. There is not a single MK restaurant that we would make an effort to go to except LTT for lunch, otherwise forget it. Recent trips to GF Cafe & Konas have turned us off. These used to be great gems. Dont even get me started on the absence of a mid priced steakhouse now that Concourse is gone.
